In a groundbreaking move to enhance tax compliance and streamline dispute resolution, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has upgraded its web portal, introducing an effortless way for taxpayers to fulfill their 30% Tax Appeals Tribunal (TAT) payment obligations.
This latest enhancement simplifies the process of paying the 30% tax assessed, or the undisputed portion, before filing an appeal, as mandated by Section 15(1) of the Tax Appeals Tribunal Act.
With just a few clicks, taxpayers can now generate a Payment Registration Number (PRN) by selecting “30% TAT payment” under the “Basis of Payment” option on the URA website’s payment registration page.
“This upgrade underscores URA’s commitment to enhancing taxpayer convenience while ensuring compliance with tax regulations,” the Authority stated in its official notice. “By digitizing this process, we are eliminating unnecessary bureaucracy and making it easier for taxpayers to meet their obligations seamlessly.”
The move is expected to significantly reduce delays in tax dispute resolutions, allowing businesses and individuals to comply with the law without administrative bottlenecks. URA urges all taxpayers to take advantage of this new feature and remain tax-compliant to avoid penalties.
