Only The Law & Not M7 Will Save Anita Among! Gen Saleh Assures Teso Delegation

By Mulengera Reporters

Over the weekend, investigative journalist Dean Lubowa Saava says he was sneaked into Gen Salim Saleh’s Nakaseke-Kapeeka premises where he, incognito, attended a meeting between the President’s brother and a delegation of leaders from Teso sub region

Saava, who has since declassified some of the things that transpired by condensing it in a video he posted on his TV10 YouTube channel, says the meeting started after midday and went on up to late into the evening. Saava has always had a curious relationship with the office of Gen Salim Saleh in his capacity as the Coordinator Operation Wealth Creation (OWC).

He says that apart from the delegation of Teso leaders, which included the clergy, cultural leaders and some MPs, a few Ministers were present at Kapeeka, including Lydia Wanyoto.

That the delegation members were here to plead to have their daughter Anita Among pardoned. Bukedea County MP David Okweere Beecham was very outspoken throughout the meeting, which ended in Salim Saleh assuring his guests that he was powerless in the circumstances and there isn’t much he can do for them.

Saava, who has promised more serialization of what transpired at the closed session, says Gen Saleh told his guests that Anita Among’s problems are beyond just the corruption investigations which everyone now knows about. He made it clear that one of the mistakes Anita Among made was to mislead herself into squandering billions of money buying off and compromising opposition MPs yet this wasn’t a priority of the President anymore.

Saleh told his guests the political opposition groups inside Parliament had long been compromised and neutralized and there was no work for Among to do among them. That as far as President Museveni is concerned, the neutralization of such groups was completed long before even Among became Bukedea Woman MP in 2016.

Whereas Among always felt important to the President simply because she had splashed billions of money on such MPs, to the big man from Rwakitura all that amounted to no work done because the same had been accomplished years ago.

Saava quoted Saleh as narrating to his guests that when Jacob Oulanyah became Speaker, the President gave him a briefing clearly showing him things he wanted the 11th Parliament to prioritize to enable the Legislature feed into and support the realization of the NRM’s socio-economic transformation for which interventions like Emyooga, OWC, PDM and others had been enacted into existence.

That Oulanyah had been instigated to work very closely with Thomas Tayebwa, who had become Government Chief Whip, to put together a committee of 18 very influential MPs who would galvanize opinions of fellow legislators to make sure everyone becomes aligned in that direction. That Oulanyah had become very enthusiastic about the assignment because it would enable him deliver to the President’s expectations without having to compromise on the expected legislative quality and the independence of Parliament.

Saleh reportedly told his guests that when Oulanyah died and Anita Among became Speaker, the President summoned her and asked her to go and prioritize the same agenda.

That she asked all the clarification questions she had and the President explained everything to her satisfaction only to be surprised when she abandoned everything and concentrated on the materialism of splashing money to opposition legislators, something Gen Museveni felt wasn’t in anyway amplifying his socio-economic transformation agenda.

Gen Saleh reportedly explained to his guests that much as such sabotage won’t feature anywhere on the charge sheet at the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court where she will ultimately be charged for corruption, it’s one of the things which angered Gen Museveni and made him feel betrayed by his otherwise workaholic cadre from Bukedea. That the same briefing has since been given to Oboth-Oboth as new Speaker and it’s based on that that his success with be measured and assessed.

He confirmed that indeed Anita Among had been a generous person who ate with many people, including himself but he wasn’t in position to help out because the anger among the powerful people she annoyed remains very high. He told them to mind their business and find things to do to avoid facing the wrath and anger of those who are out to make sure Anita Among pays for her sabotage.

He didn’t elaborate who these were but made it clear he no longer tells lies because he has lately become a Mulokole and is determined to work towards distinguishing himself as a righteous Christian.

He said he feels sorry for the Bukedea Woman MP over the fact that the many people she always ate with have all turned their back and abandoned her at the time she needs them most.

He told them in the Movement wrongdoing is always punished and that he personally had been punished before for his excesses even when he is a bush war hero and President’s brother. Saleh told the leaders the other bitter truth: namely that Anita Among will have to be subjected to the full wrath of the law regarding the corruption allegations.

He advised her supporters and Teso co-ethnics to pray for her to get good lawyers and have a speedy trial. He made it clear that not even Gen Museveni, who she can’t access anymore, will be able to save Anita Among and shield her from criminal trial. Her fate along those lines was long sealed though even conclusion of that trial won’t imply she is finally out of the woods.
