The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced significant progress in ongoing restoration works at the Entebbe Water Works, with full water production expected to resume by the end of tomorrow, July 21, 2026.

In an update issued to customers and stakeholders, the utility said its engineers and technical teams have been working around the clock to restore normal operations following critical maintenance at the water intake facility. The works have temporarily reduced water production, affecting supply to parts of Entebbe and surrounding areas.

NWSC reported that several key milestones were achieved during the day, bringing the restoration project closer to completion. Among the completed tasks are the fabrication and preparation of critical pipeline components, as well as the transportation of major materials and equipment to the work site.

The corporation also confirmed that newly acquired high-capacity pumps and their supporting infrastructure have been successfully positioned at the intake area, paving the way for installation and commissioning. In addition, electrical control systems are nearing completion, while preparations for the final installation of the new equipment have reached an advanced stage.

According to NWSC, the latest developments represent major steps toward restoring full production capacity at the treatment plant.

The utility said it remains on schedule to complete the remaining works and return the facility to full operation by the end of tomorrow. Once the new pumps are commissioned, water supply is expected to improve gradually across the Entebbe area as the distribution network stabilizes.

Customers in some locations could begin experiencing improved water pressure and more reliable supply as early as tomorrow evening, although full normalization across the network may take additional time as reservoirs refill and pressure balances throughout the system.

Meanwhile, NWSC said it will continue operating the plant at limited capacity overnight to maintain essential water supply while final installation and testing activities are completed.

The corporation apologized for the inconvenience caused by the temporary disruption and thanked customers for their patience and understanding throughout the maintenance exercise.

Reaffirming its commitment to service delivery, NWSC said it continues to benchmark its operations against leading global water utilities by prioritizing reliability, rapid response, transparency and customer care. The utility added that another progress update will be issued tomorrow evening after full water production has been restored.
