The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has reported separate water supply interruptions affecting Kabale and Arua areas, attributed to ongoing maintenance works and infrastructure challenges, according to updates shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on 19 and 22 June 2026.
In Kabale Area, NWSC announced on 19 June 2026 that a temporary water supply interruption had been caused by maintenance works being undertaken by the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) team.
The utility indicated that water production had been reduced to about 40 percent capacity, with generators being used to sustain limited supply during the disruption. NWSC noted that normal water production and distribution would resume upon completion of the maintenance works, which were expected to be concluded the same day. Customers were urged to remain patient as restoration efforts continued.
Meanwhile, in Arua Area, NWSC reported a separate disruption on 22 June 2026, citing low water levels at River Enyau and pipe cuts resulting from ongoing road grading works within the city.
The corporation said it had activated interim measures, including maximizing output from available motorized boreholes to partially serve affected communities while reinstatement works on damaged pipelines were ongoing.
The disruption affected several locations, including Ociba, Oduluba, Pajulu, Onzuvu, Yigatia, Odia, Euata, Komite, Kasua, Ajono, Kumara Village, Chogoloya, Ambala, Ajia, Kuluva, Ocoko, Arivu, Bondo, Rhino Camp Road, Jiako Yia, and Ombeteni, among others.
NWSC assured residents in the affected areas that efforts were underway to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible, while urging continued patience as repairs and system stabilization continued.
The utility expressed regret over the inconvenience caused in both Kabale and Arua, emphasizing its commitment to restoring reliable water supply services across all affected areas.
