The recent accusations of sexual abuse by Gen. Zoganya, a top confidant of NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, have brought back memories of warnings issued by former NUP Deputy President Mathias Mpuuga in March 2023.
Now, as video evidence surface exposing Zoganya who has been raping and defiling female NUP members while party bosses look on, questions are being raised about NUP’s silence on the matter. The party has been accused of turning a blind eye to sexual abuse, with some alleging that top leaders are involved in exploiting female members.Mpuuga’s warnings have proven prophetic, with some saying the party’s inaction has emboldened perpetrators. _”On 13 March 2023, Hon. Mpuuga warned us about sexual exploitation and extortion in the NUP, and many took him lightly. Today, here we are with Gen. Zoganya, one of Kyagulanyi’s top confidants, raping and defiling girls within the party as his bosses look on,”_ a party insider said.
