Nakasongola County MP Ivan Kyeyune has claimed to know the inside information as to why people in Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s PLU universe passionately hate NTV and generally the Nation Media Group (NMG).
NUP’s Kyeyune (who used to work at NTV before becoming MP last January) has wildly claimed in a video clip that has since gone viral online, that the management at the Serena-based TV vigorously resisted efforts to turn it into a propaganda tool for Gen MK as was done to Bukedde TV and Pastor Bugingo’s Salt Media etc.
In a video interview recorded for YouTube channel Gossip Live Ug, Ivan Kyeyune claimed that there were demands by key people at PLU to have Patriotic League of Uganda officials appear for frequent interviews on NTV but with their own rehearsed questions.
That the management consistently said ‘no’ when the would-be PLU studio guests demanded to come with their own questions which NTV interviewers would be required to just read for the pro-PLU studio guests to respond with crammed answers. That this would make them appear more authoritative, knowledgeable and eloquent than they actually are.
The veteran comedian, who used to do the highly satirical Zungululu segment on NTV, is politically vulnerable because he is the only NUP MP from Nakasongola; the rest are all NRM. His 15th January 2026 victory (polling 15,611 votes) is actually the biggest electoral win the opposition has ever registered against Gen Museveni’s NRM since 1986 in Nakasongola. Simply put, the area is an NRM stronghold where Ivan Kyeyune will struggle to get reelected in 2031 should Gen MK’s PLU determine to blacklist and go after him.
