In a Monday social media post, President Museveni’s daughter Natasha Karugire distanced herself from dubious charitable fundraising activities being conducted by fraudsters purporting to act in her name. The fraudsters had opened numerous Facebook accounts in her name with intention to use them to mobilize funds towards the kiwaani foundation.
Natasha says she doesn’t have any Facebook account. Neither has she authorized anyone to open one for the alleged foundation, whose authenticity she disputes since she has nothing to do with it.
She isn’t involved in any foundation and those behind the online scam have since been reported to the authorities and the impugned Facebook account flagged and reported to authorities for action.
Inspite of relentless efforts by UCC, such scamming activities have lately been on the rise in Uganda and big people like Natasha, with plenty of name recognition, have always been targeted.
