During the latest edition of the Bad Natives podcast, Robert Kabushenga admitted to his friend Onyango Obbo that indeed everything that can go wrong in a country has already happened in Museveni’s Uganda.
He also called on fellow elites to stop engaging in self-righteousness and admit the bitter fact that political power has irreversibly shifted into the hands of Gen MK and his close adherents like Andrew Mwenda in the PLU universe.
He called on fellow senior Movementists to become pragmatic and admit that the MK moment has come. Saying he is so far standing alone in trying to put up resistance while trying to question and push back against what is happening in the country, Kabushenga also sympathized with his old friend Ofwono Opondo who he said must currently be one of the most demoralized and frustrated ideologues inside the Movement.
Kabushenga said it was very shameful to see Ofwono Opondo, who powerfully served under Museveni for more than 25 years, having to find himself having to improvise to find some obscure role to play in the botched Anita Among Speakership reelection campaign.
He said that must be so disarming because Anita Among until a few years ago belonged to the opposition FDC party where she was never even part of their 2nd or 3rd eleven.
It all ended in tears as Among was descended upon and destroyed by the security services as people in the PLU universe wildly cheered. Opondo had to eat a humble pie and lie low like an envelope before PLU adherents could descend on him for ridicule.
Indeed, David Kabanda, one of the big men in PLU, tried to provoke Opondo into a fight so that he eventually gets destroyed but the man from Mulanda knew better than fighting back.
True to his demobilization style, Kabanda attacked Opondo for questioning the capacity in which the PLU boss was acting while causing arrest of harmless senior citizens like Miria Matembe, Erias Lukwago etc and tried to ride on that to portray him as being disrespectful of Gen MK. But OO avoided escalation and that bought for him peace to at least live for another day while praying hard never to have his basement moment.
Kabushenga says that as if the destruction of Anita Among isn’t bad enough, OO must be hurting to see Andrew Mwenda being one of the most powerful officials inside Gen MK’s orbit inside PLU.
That this must be so disarming because until not very long ago, Mwenda used to be a rabid critic of the Movement and the entire Musevenism. Yet today, the same Mwenda has a seat on the high table to the extent that he can determine the fate if Ofwono Opondo or any other Movementist.
Kabushenga also spoke about DP President Norbert Mao who Gen Salim Saleh recently referred to while addressing the MK saga. The President’s brother directed that Gen MK begins to regularly update Norbert Mao the Justice Minister, who also heads the Cabinet Sub Committee on human rights.
Saleh indicated that being regularly briefed will enable Mao to have firsthand information with which to keep updating Ugandans and curious journalists on the ongoing Erias Lukwago and Kizza Besigye treason trial.
Kabushenga said that Mao is someone OO spent decades battling in defense of the Movement yet the same man is now more powerful and given more priority by Museveni palace officials like Gen Saleh, than himself.
Kabushenga admitted that the days of the old Movement, which was ideological and deliberate about being a big tent political organization, are gone, a reality he urged fellow veteran Musevenists to admit and let be.
On his part, Onyango Obbo registered his contempt for Gen MK and predicted that Uganda’s Black Swan moment will inevitably come for Uganda and will leave everybody in the CDF universe totally flabbergasted, while catching them off guard.
Onyango Obbo also attempted to interpret the President’s birthday message that was recently posted in honor of his wife Janet. He said his reading is that Gen Museveni believes he can live for 100 years and he is determined to remain President until he dies.
Renowned for his insightful analysis, Onyango Obbo said that its clear the President has permitted his son to keep terrorizing Ugandans so that by the time elections like 2031 and beyond come to take place, Ugandans are permanently cowed and have accepted to live under the reign of terror so that whoever dares stand against him at elections, only gets laughed at.
Onyango Obbo said that Gen Museveni wants to concentrate on how to remain President for life as his son helps him to get rid of would-be opponents, so that there is no one to stand in his way as he seeks to live for 100 years while remaining in office for an eternity.
He claimed that Gen Museveni is clearly determined to stay on for as long as he lives though he will end up being surprised the way it happened with El-Omar Bashir of Sudan and other strongmen who ruled their countries with an iron hand.
