It’s Bad Manners to Kidnap a Lawyer For doing his work! PFF’s Ssemujju Nganda Calls Our Gen MK Over Erias Lukwago’s Arrest
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

By Mulengera Reporters

Semujju Nganda, the Spokesperson and Secretary General of PFF Party, has called upon Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the CDF who days earlier had been required to defend himself in Court in response to Dr. Kizza Besigye’s human rights enforcement petition, to subordinate himself to the laws of Uganda, which permit lawyers like Erias Lukwago to do his work by representing clients.

Nganda was on Monday morning responding to the dramatic events at Erias Lukwago’s home where the former Lord Mayor was grabbed out of his bedroom by plain clothed security operatives who whisked him off to an unknown destination. Nganda told reporters at PFF Katonga offices that he suspects Lukwago was being persecuted because of his determination to lead a team of lawyers to defense headquarters where they intended to serve court papers onto Gen MK.

Nganda says that acts like these only happen in failed states where the laws of the land are subordinated to the whims of the individual gun-wielding generals. Nganda’s condemnation was immediately corroborated by PFF Deputy President Lulume Bayiga who described Gen MK as a cowardly commander who ‘can only attempt to run but won’t permanently hide from the long arm of the law.’ He described Lukwago as a mere officer of court who qualifies for protection from Uganda Law Society and also from the Judiciary top leadership.

Lulume Bayiga said the struggle for a better-governed Uganda will continue no matter how many opposition leaders get exiled like Bobi Wine and locked up in Luzira like Dr. Besigye or even abducted as has been the case for the PFF President Erias Lukwago.  He wondered which type of President Gen MK is going to be for Uganda if he can be scared of mere appearance before court to defend himself.

He added that being son to a sitting President doesn’t place Gen MK to be above the law. Lulume predicted that another Besigye, Erias Lukwago will emerge from every village of Uganda, implying that the regime’s tactic of cowing its opponents into nonexistence will ultimately succeed.

Lulume also fearlessly asserted that even Idi Amin was never this intolerant and called on Gen Museveni to surrender the presidency to the PFF party which can present a capable President who will have the guts to tame controversial Generals like his son. Lulume also called on Parliament, the Judiciary, the clergy and all the other civil society organizations to rise to the occasion and denounce Gen MK for events like what happened at the PFF President’s home Monday morning.

Lulume demanded that Parliament treats the matter as urgent because no one can claim to be safe anymore, in a country where some Generals have been permitted to take themselves to be above the law. Salaam Musumba, the speaker of the PFF Council, condemned the Museveni government for the circumstances under which Lukwago had been persecuted and grabbed from his home-and predicted that things are going to get worse first before the Ugandan situation gets better. The PFF leaders called upon Ugandans to realize and accept the fact that Uganda was already under a state of emergency as age and physical exhuastion take toll on their country’s incumbent President.

Semujju Nganda controversially claimed that its possible Erias Lukwago could have been killed already by the unknown men who had forcefully dragged him out of his bed room because in today’s Uganda life has become so meaningless. He said he wouldn’t be surprised if the CDF, who has been vowing to get rid of Besigye’s life, had tolerated his men finishing off Erias Lukwago during the Monday morning operation at his Wakaliga residence. During his Luganda version, Semujju Nganda corroborated Lulume’s point by asserting that even when Idi Amin was claimed to be a very bad president, he never had a son who was ever synonymous with torturing fellow citizens.

The PFF leaders unanimously predicted that a day was coming when there is going to be so much violence by Gen MK-led army to the extent that even journalists will become afraid of turning up to cover events at political party headquarters. Lulume also predicted that a day is coming when even Justice Emmanuel Baguma, the Besigye trial judge, will be picked up for granting the court order requiring the CDF to appear before his Court.
