Speaking as Guest of Honor at the Wednesday inauguration of new PLU Secretary General Fadil Twalla, the new speaker of parliament Oboth-Oboth thanked Generals Museveni and MK for being such good selfless leaders who wish well for every Ugandan.
He said the two leaders are inclusive in their approach and are determined to demonstrate inclusiveness and that Uganda belongs to everyone, which is why a son of peasant like him can become speaker and Fadil, another peasant from Sebei, becomes secretary general for such a powerful organization.
Making it clear he personally is PLU, which he said is an inclusive organization which doesn’t discriminate anyone, Oboth-Oboth said it was his prayer that a day comes when every Uganda will be a member of PLU. The Budama Central MP, who recently was appointed special envoy by PLU Chairman Gen MK, made it clear that there was nothing to be ashamed of about being a PLU adherent.
He said the year 2026 had turned out to be a big year for miracles in his life because the PLU Chairman decreed that he becomes the new speaker of parliament. Oboth-Oboth vowed not to embarrass Gen MK and promised he was going to do this by leading by example and by ensuring that the vice of corruption is totally eradicated and ended at Parliament.
As the large crowd chanted his name as Uganda’s savior at the level of parliament leadership, Oboth-Oboth said there are lots of reforms he intends to implement at Parliament which will make each and every PLU member proud. He asked for all Ugandans’ support saying all he needs is time to demonstrate the excellent and transformative leadership PLU adherents, like him, are capable of. He said Gen MK and President Museveni had done their part giving everyone a platform to contribute to Uganda’s national development and socio-economic transformation.
He said that being against corruption both in deed and action is the only way PLU-leaning MPs and Ministers will make Ugandans love Gen MK’s organization called the Patriotic League of Uganda. He said PLU should be understood as a pressure group of young energetic Ugandans determined to re-energize Gen Museveni’s war against corruption and agenda for socio-economic transformation.
