Mildred Tuhaise, arguably Uganda’s most loved TV personality, says that its not true that she has ceased to be an employee of Next Media, which owns and operates NBS TV on which she has been working as a news anchor, interviewer and talk show host for the last 11 years.
In a Saturday phone chat with this news platform, Ms Tuhaise clarified that the misleading online media reports, fallaciously indicating that she had left NBS, resulted from the deliberately long post she put on her X Thursday night.
She explained that the contents therein were merely personal reflections to mark one of key milestone anniversary days in her personal life. She emphasized that this is how the misleading media reports, which she described as nothing but a “hoax,” originated and she chose to just ignore it all because nothing could have been further from the truth.
Ms Tuhaise, who people on social media made it clear they would miss very much in case she had indeed exited her employment at Uganda’s leading TV station, also made it clear that she was still very much around as part of Next Media and that she has no plans of vacating her roles at the Naguru-based broadcaster, anytime soon.
Whatever happened, the media reports (to which the Next Media owner Dr. Kin Karisa reacted with sarcasm) portrayed the extent to which millions of NBS TV viewers value and respect Mildred Tuhaise.
Many had vowed to quit and never to watch NBS TV again in order to protest departure of their favorite media personality. Many nostalgic viewers had gone as far as likening Mildred’s departure to that of Faridah Nakazibwe and Frank Walusimbi from Serena-based NTV.
In the long X post, which clearly was misunderstood and became the basis of the viral online media reports, Ms Tuhaise at length reflected on her professional career journey specifically focusing on her 11 years of working with NBS TV, where she continues to be part of one of the most popular and most watched programs such as Morning Breeze.
