Singer and actress Hellen Lukoma is among four actresses nominated for the Best Supporting Actress in a Feature Film award at the 2026 Uganda Film Festival.
Lukoma will compete for the award alongside fellow actresses Irene Sseremba Enyegu, Hilda Namakula and Immaculate Nakakeeto.
The four actresses will also feature in a special Best Supporting Actress in Feature Film Roundtable, where they will share insights into their craft, experiences in Uganda’s film industry and the roles that have shaped their performances.
The discussion is part of the Uganda Film Festival, which returns from August 21 to 28, 2026, under the theme “Transformation: The Power of Local Stories.”
The festival will feature film screenings, workshops, industry forums and engagements aimed at connecting filmmakers, actors and other players in Uganda’s growing film industry.
Lukoma, who has built a career across music, television and film, is nominated for her performance in You May Kiss the Bride Goodbye, while Hilda Namakula is nominated for her role in Wrong Number.
The festival seeks to celebrate outstanding Ugandan talent while providing a platform for filmmakers and other creatives to showcase their work, exchange ideas and explore opportunities within the local and international film market.
The week-long event will culminate in the Uganda Film Festival 2026 Awards Gala on August 28, where outstanding talent, creativity and achievements in Ugandan cinema will be recognised.
The Best Supporting Actress roundtable is expected to provide an opportunity for audiences and industry players to gain insight into the work that goes into creating memorable supporting characters and the evolving role of women in Uganda’s film industry.
