Through his Executive Assistant Omutume David Kabanda, Gen MK, in his capacity as the PLU National Chairman, has offered to buy the UPC party in order to force out Jimmy Akena who has lately been addressing very hostile news conferences dedicated at demonizing the CDF.
Saying he is ready to die and be buried in Akokoro next to his father’s grave, Akena recently branded Gen MK a murderer and torturer while discussing the circumstances surrounding Erias Lukwago and Miria Matembe’s incarceration.
Kabanda said that Akena has no moral authority to utter such stuff against Gen MK because his own dad Milton Obote caused the death of 0.5m people in Luwero triangle area during the NRA bush war. That this is a legacy Ugandans can never forget the family members who happen to be Obote’s descendants.
He added that even inside UPC, Akena is an illegitimate leader who became party President through means of a coup which was sponsored and enabled by Museveni’s people who Kabanda said aren’t anywhere near Uganda’s decision-making centers anymore. He said that Akena had better know that, riding on such illegalities, PLU can remove him and end his UPC Presidency in just 24 hours.
Refusing to rule out this possibility, which could be carried out as part of PLU’s broader campaign to reorganize the opposition terrain, Kabanda announced his boss Gen MK’s readiness to part with Shs4m and buy off UPC, the way Bobi Wine bought off NUP from its founder Moses Nkonge Kibalama in the year 2020.
He said that UPC had had its goodwill and reputation deteriorate over the years under Akena to the extent that no one can pay more than Shs4m to acquire the debris and ruins that remain of what used to be one of the most vibrant political parties in Uganda.
A wordsmith in his own right, Kabanda said many things that were clearly calculated at totally obliterating Akena, whose wife Betty Amongi he said is also already being investigated over possible corruption dealings for the years (2016-2026) she served as a Minister in Museveni’s government at Lands in 2016, KCCA/Kampala Metropolitan Affairs and finally at Gender.
Kabanda claimed that at Lands, Amongi made lots of money and became owner of large and prime tracts of land in Kampala and other parts of Uganda, something he said PLU is determined to have investigated as part of Gen MK’s broader war against corruption.
