Kampala Central Division Town Clerk Douglas Nsubuga has instructed all Ward Administrators in charge of the different parishes or wards to ensure that all LC1 and LC2 Chairpersons who were defeated in the just-ended Local Council elections hand over office and stamp to their successors or risk being crashed.
In his letter, dated 28th August, Nsubuga stated that handing over office is an act of civility and not weakness, and that those who frustrate the smooth transfer of power will have to be severely sanctioned.
They have up to Thursday 3rd September. Mr. Nsubuga makes it clear that the law will have to be invoked to force out those who try clinging on without the mandate of the people.
