Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga has for years been serving as the spokesperson for ANT party which was founded by Gen Mugisha Muntu. He replaced fellow lawyer Wilberforce Sseryazi who took the publicist slot from the very beginning before he became disillusioned and pivoted away from the Mugisha Muntu universe. Sseryazi was initially deputized by lawyer/journalist Suleiman Kakaire.
As we now know, Karuhanga, who in 2026 reclaimed the same Ntungamo seat as an ANT-leaning independent, has been replaced with Hoima City West MP Ismail Kasule Owensonga who is the only ANT MP and the first one ever to win such a seat for Muntu’s party.
Kasule was unveiled to the media as the new publicist for ANT during a Wednesday media event at the party’s head offices in Lungujja Rubaga Division. The event was attended by Alice Alaso, Gen Mugisha Muntu himself and Kassiano Wadri who was also unveiled as the new national coordinator which equals to being party President in ANT. The party hopes that, as it gets enrolled into IPOD membership, these two experienced political hasslers and eloquent communicators will excel at amplifying its messaging.
The new posting is an opportunity for Kasule, a former youth leader in FDC, to shine nationally and project himself as an upcoming generational leader for Bunyoro sub region which has only him and PFF’s Asinas Nyakato as the opposition MPs at that level.
Being the only ANT MP in the 12th Parliament Kasule now qualifies to be his own whip and someone the Speaker will feel obliged to allow to speak from time to time because he represents an entire political party with even representation in IPOD.
He is also an effective communicator who genuinely believes in the General Muntu cause and flawlessly speaks several languages of Uganda. Even in the absence of his mentor Anita Among, with whom he had a good relationship since their days in FDC, the new posting gives Ismail Kasule an opportunity to raise his political profile on national TVs in Kampala, on the floor of Parliament and back at home in Bunyoro.
Gratefully, he has been in Kampala for an eternity, he is eloquent and is naturally media friendly. He is also at a point where he can effectively synergize with his senior and predecessor Gerald Karuhanga who will most likely continue being complementary and affiliated to ANT party even though he was elected on the independent ticket.
On his part, Kassiano Wadri remains fierce as always and his abrasive approach, which saw him criticize Gen Museveni on his first day in the top job over the alleged maltreatment of Gen Moses Ali, could become a source of content for online media content creators and thereby amplifying visibility for the ANT party.
