After joining the Kyabazinga to attend the Saturday nurses’ graduation ceremony at a Iganga-based nursing institute, Rebecca Kadaga (aka Mama Busoga) led a powerful entourage of newly elected MPs from Busoga to a playground Kaliro where she presided over new Bulamogi MP Bernard Mutebi Mugoya’s thanksgiving ceremony.

It was a massive event and the crowd was electrified upon seeing the Kadaga entourage arrive. She remains the most popular political figure in that part of Busoga whose voters used the 15th January elections to thoroughly punish Shanon Bwire who was the incumbent MP as of that time.

Bwire was punished by the area voters because thousands of young people, who are the majority, were determined to punish him for leading members of the so-called Team Mulamu who concentrated on abusing their beloved Rebecca Kadaga.

Mutebi was in the Kadaga camp (aka Team Mama) throughout the campaigning period. He indeed was rewarded and elected by voters who were desperate to punish Shanon Bwire and have him politically destroyed once and for all.

Taking place at the time the country continues to jubilate over former Speaker Anita Among’s dramatic political downfall, the Kaliro/Bulamogi event turned into a political rally as thousands of young people displayed memes depicting her political funeral, and by the extension the end of the very fractious Team Mulamu.

Majority MPs from Busoga turned up and opportunistically bowed before Rebecca Kadaga who some of them had spent months castigating and demonizing, ostensibly to appease their Team Mulamu patron, Anita Among who was on her way to having the title ‘Mama Busoga’ equally bestowed on her to depict her marriage to Budiope MP Moses Magogo. Sarah Namulondo Kitambala, the newly elected Buyende Woman MP who is one of the few Team Mulamu adherents who won their respective races in January, was among those who seemed repentant.

In their speeches, many MPs renewed their commitment and loyalty to Kadaga whose political invincibility in Busoga they acknowledged and testified about. The crowd cheered each and every speech of whoever amplified that messaging around Rebecca Kadaga’s invincibility. Because they all acknowledge Kadaga to be the undisputed kingmaker of Busoga sub region, even NUP MPs were present to ensure maximum comfort for the sub region’s undisputed political colossus.

One MP after another, speakers conspicuously celebrated Gen MK who is the CDF and also PLU leader for refusing to fall for Anita Among’s cunning antics and instead going on to decisively obliterate her entire universe. They equally thanked Gen Museveni, MK’s father, for his earlier cautious approach which saw him boldly look Anita Among in the eye and ordering her to leave the issues of Busoga to political general from the sub region.

MPs confessed how there was no way Anita Among was going to ever be overcome without the incorruptible Gen MK vigorously stepping forward to play the role he played in her ferrying.  Specifically, the MPs reflected on the fact that Gen MK’s decisiveness prevented Anita Among from reclaiming the Speakership for another five years and that her total political annihilation at the CDF’s instigation marked the end of the so-called Team Mulamu’s existence and thereby incentivizing all the elected leaders in Busoga to unite under Rebecca Kadaga’s selfless and unifying leadership.

Some elected leaders in Busoga have since signaled readiness to organize a massive political demonstration to officially thank Gen MK for helping them destroy Anita Among who, in her hey days, used the leverage that comes with being Speaker to politically destroy many would-be good leaders.

Indeed, as she built and fortified her political universe across Uganda, Anita Among crashed whoever was perceived to be an adversary. This explains the unanimity with which Ugandans have continued speaking while celebrating her unanticipated downfall.

The Basogas are thanking Gen MK for being the fearless and decisive general who instigated her total demobilization and disarmament into the deflated and vulnerable political figure she has since evolved into. And gratefully, at the Bulamogi Kaliro event, Rebecca Kadaga signaled readiness to pardon and forgive repentant foes who had been misled into the very divisive politics of Team Mulamu and the like.
