More secrets about the coup that ousted the Buganda Parliamentary caucus chairperson Jackson Muyanja Senyonga are still emerging. The NRM spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa, has revealed that much as Muyanja left the Kyankwanzi retreat acrimoniously, he knew whatever the fellows were planning against him. Mulindwa told the media on Sunday afternoon that Muyanja was notified of the plot to oust him and accepted that he would go by what the decision of the majority. Mulindwa who insisted that Muyanja was removed democratically, could not explain whether Muyanja participated and voted in the Kyankwanzi elections that had him ousted from the Caucus Chairmanship. He confirmed that the NRM MPs had complained before the NRM caucus that Muyanja was siding with those other members of the Buganda Parliamentary Caucus to fail decisions taken by the NRM caucus and needed to eliminate him. “The MPs had a complaint and had told him on how he was frustrating them as the chairman by siding with radicals to fail decision reached at by the NRM caucus. For example, during the Togikwatako, the NRM position was to support the motion but Muyanja decampaigned it because he wanted to satisfy the other group which was against NRM,” said Mulindwa. Mulindwa further revealed that the decision to oust Muyanja was reached at after a number of NRM MPs who opposed the famous Magyezi Bill apologized before the caucus in Kyankwanzi where they blamed Muyanja for misleading them. He however said that the Buganda Parliamentary caucus will have the caucus led by James Kakooza which is only comprised of NRM MPs and then the Buganda caucus which covers all the MPs from Buganda. “Let them have two because since they belong to different parties they have been not organized in decision making whereby they influence the chairman and frustrate NRM resolutions and decisions,” Mulindwa said. Mulindwa’s statements that Muyanja Knew about the plot to oust him, contradicted those of the NRM Deputy Chief Whip Mr. Solomon Silwanyi who had earlier said that the removal of Muyanja from the chairmanship of Buganda caucus was a top secret among the Buganda MPs. Meantime, the Nakaseke County MP Lutamaguzi has described those who ousted Muyanja as meal card individuals whose aim was none other than to beg for money from the President. Lutamaguzi alleged that the Kakooza-led caucus has already tabled a requisition of 7bn before the President to fund projects in Buganda. For comments, call or text us on 0752510225.
