The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) continues to position itself as the new center of gravity for Uganda’s emerging and established political leaders ahead of the 2031 election cycle.
The latest to pay allegiance to PLU is Patrick Mugisha, the former Mayor of Mityana District and contestant for the Mityana Municipality parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections.
Mugisha, popularly known as “Governor” in Mityana political circles, this morning visited the PLU Headquarters in Kampala where he was formally received by the Secretary General, Hon. Fadhil, alongside other senior PLU officials.
During the brief but symbolic meeting, captured under the PLU’s trademark “Yiko Pamoja” slogan, Mugisha held talks with the leadership and toured the party offices, in what sources described as a confirmation of his full allegiance to the PLU.
Insiders intimate that the Mityana politician is now seeking PLU endorsement for the Mityana Municipality parliamentary seat in the 2031 general elections. His move is seen as strategic, tapping into PLU’s growing grassroots network and youthful appeal.
Mugisha’s defection adds to a growing list of politicians across the country who have in recent months flocked to PLU to consolidate their political future.
By press time, PLU had not yet issued an official statement on his new role, but photos from the headquarters show a warm reception and a handshake sealing the new alliance.
