The NRM Chairman for Kampala Central District and Kampala Central Division Mayor, His Worship Salim Saad Uhuru, has congratulated all women elected as Members of the Village Women Committee across Kampala Central Division held on 23rd July 2026.
Mayor Uhuru commended the women for the exemplary performance that saw NRM register excellent results across all the parishes in the Division.
_“I congratulate all our gallant women of Kampala Central Division. You have made us proud. The way you turned up and organized yourselves shows that NRM is strong at the grassroots,”_ Uhuru said.
He particularly cited Nakasero 1 Parish with 30 candidates and Nakasero 2 Parish with 55 candidates who went unopposed, as shining examples of unity, trust, and maturity in the party.
_“To go unopposed is not by accident. It is a vote of confidence from the people. Nakasero has set the pace, and I challenge other parishes to emulate that spirit,”_ he added.
According to the official EC Programme for Women Councils Elections June–September 2026:
1. Parish/Ward Level: 23rd July 2026
2. Division Level: Nomination 14th August, Polling 18th August 2026
3. City Level: Nomination 24th August, Polling 28th August 2026
4. National Conference: 3rd – 4th September 2026 for Election of the National Women Committee
“This is not the end, it is just the beginning,”_ Uhuru emphasized.
_“I call upon all our village women leaders to prepare to represent Kampala Central with dignity at Parish, Division, City and ultimately at the National Conference.”
He tasked the new leaders to mobilize women into SACCOs, champion government programs like PDM and Emyooga, and remain the voice of women at the grassroots.
_“NRM believes in women. Women are the backbone of our party and our communities. Together, let us walk to the next level and deliver victory for the NRM in 2026,”_ he concluded.
