The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced a temporary interruption of water supply in Kyambogo and surrounding areas following damage to transmission mains during ongoing road maintenance works along Kireka-Kamuli Road.
In a notice issued on Thursday, August 6, 2026, and shared on its official X account, NWSC informed customers that its technical teams had moved to the affected area to carry out repairs and restore normal water supply.
The interruption has affected residents and businesses along Kireka-Kamuli Road, including communities in Cowa, Kamuli Lubawo, and other neighbouring areas. The corporation said the damage occurred near KB Supermarket, where road maintenance activities affected key water transmission infrastructure.
NWSC said its teams are working together with the road maintenance contractor to repair and reinstate the damaged mains. The corporation assured customers that efforts were ongoing to minimise the disruption and restore services as quickly as possible.
“Please be informed that water supply to Kyambogo and surrounding areas has been interrupted to allow our teams to repair and reinstate transmission mains damaged during ongoing road maintenance works at KB Supermarket,” NWSC stated in the notice.
The water utility apologised to affected customers for the inconvenience caused by the interruption and urged residents to bear with the situation as restoration work continues.
According to the notice, the estimated time of restoration was 4pm, with NWSC indicating that supply would resume once repairs were successfully completed and the transmission system returned to normal operation.
Water supply interruptions are sometimes necessary when infrastructure is damaged or requires maintenance, as repair teams must temporarily shut down sections of the network to ensure safe and effective restoration.
NWSC encouraged customers in the affected areas to continue monitoring its communication platforms for updates on the repair progress and restoration of water services.
The corporation remains responsible for providing water and sewerage services across Uganda and regularly carries out maintenance and emergency repairs to safeguard the reliability of its infrastructure.
