dfcu Bank, Rotary District leaders and Uganda’s corporate sector have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding strategic partnerships that are transforming lives, improving healthcare, restoring the environment, and strengthening education during an appreciation breakfast held at Four Points by Sheraton in Kampala this morning.

The breakfast meeting brought together Rotary District Governors, corporate executives, and development partners to celebrate the achievements of long-standing collaborations while renewing commitments to deepen partnerships that continue to create measurable social impact across Uganda.

The event served both as a recognition ceremony for Rotary’s corporate partners and as a reflection on a Rotary year defined by impactful collaborations that have reached thousands of vulnerable Ugandans through healthcare, education, environmental conservation, water and sanitation, and maternal and child health programmes.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Jimmy D. Mugerwa, dfcu Board Chair applauded the corporate organizations and institutions that have consistently partnered with Rotary Uganda, describing the relationship as one founded on shared values of integrity, accountability and service to humanity.

Mugerwa noted that while corporations allocate significant resources towards Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) programmes and charitable giving, organizations increasingly seek measurable impact rather than simply making donations.

He said, ‘’Rotary has become a trusted implementation partner because of its volunteer-driven service model, strong governance systems and commitment to accountability through its Four-Way Test.

“In the corporate world, we have resources to give. We have budgets for CSR, ESG initiatives and charitable donations. However, beyond giving, we want to see impact. We don’t just want to donate, we want to ensure that our contributions are making a real difference,” he said.

He assured partners that Rotary remains committed to providing proper monitoring and evaluation, key performance indicators and documented impact stories that demonstrate how investments are changing lives across Uganda.

One of the most celebrated partnerships during the event was between dfcu Bank, Rotary and a coalition of 16 corporate partners, which has emerged as one of Uganda’s most impactful health-focused CSR collaborations.

Speaking on behalf of dfcu Bank and the consortium of partners, Helena Mayanja, Head Corporate Affairs and Sustainability said the collaboration has evolved from a one-off corporate anniversary initiative into a structured long-term programme delivering life-saving healthcare services.

She highlighted that the partnership originated during dfcu Bank’s 60th anniversary celebrations in 2024 through the staff-led “60 Acts of Kindness” campaign, during which employees engaged communities across Uganda. Recognizing health as the country’s most pressing community need, dfcu sought a strategic partnership with Rotary to sustain interventions beyond the anniversary celebrations. The partnership subsequently adopted medical camps as one of dfcu’s flagship Corporate Social Responsibility programmes under its broader mission of transforming lives and businesses in Uganda.

She said, ’’The first medical camps conducted during October and November 2025 reached more than 22,000 people, providing essential medical services to underserved communities. The initiative has also facilitated 22 life-saving heart surgeries for children in Western Uganda and has brought together 16 corporate partners under a structured three-year partnership’’.

Rotary District 9213 Governor Geoffrey Martin Kitakule said the achievements celebrated during the breakfast demonstrate the transformative power of partnerships built on trust, shared vision and commitment to service.

He commended corporate leaders, partners and Rotary volunteers whose combined efforts have enabled Rotary to significantly expand its community impact.

“It is not just about achieving a lot, it has also demonstrated that when people unite and work together, they create an even greater impact,” Kitakule said.

Kitakule noted that Rotary has invested US$40 million in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programmes over the last decade, significantly improving access to safe water and sanitation services in communities across Uganda.

Kitakule said Family Health Days conducted in partnership with dfcu Bank reached over 22,000 people, while collaboration with the Association of Uganda Surgeons enabled approximately 2,000 surgeries, thereby expanding access to specialized medical care.
