MultiChoice Uganda, a Canal+ Company today has officially launched the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament in Uganda unveiling comprehensive coverage on SuperSport, affordable subscription options and exciting customer promotions ahead of the world’s biggest football tournament scheduled for 11th June to 19th July, 2026.

Hosted across the United States, Mexico and Canada, the FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature 48 countries and an incredible 104 matches, all of which will be broadcast live on SuperSport across DStv, GOtv, DStv Stream and GOtv Stream.

Speaking about the tournament, Hassan Saleh, CEO, MultiChoice Uganda said this year’s tournament is especially significant for Africa because a record 10 African nations have qualified.

“This is a proud moment for African football. We are excited to see, South Africa, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Cape Verde, Cote d’Ivoire and the Democratic Republic of Congo represent the continent on the biggest stage in world football,” he said.

He noted that customers will enjoy 24/7 coverage across dedicated SuperSport channels that will be renamed for the World Cup, as well as a bonus FIFA World Cup pop-up channel.

He revealed that, “Beyond the competitive matches, subscribers will also be treated to highlights, expert analyses, exclusive World Cup magazine shows, African football stories and behind-the-scenes content,” adding that, “the FIFA World Cup experience will be even more immersive, with local commentary in Kiswahili among other languages”

On DStv, the World Cup will be available of SS World Cup Channel 222, SS World Cup Extra Channel 223, and SS World Cup Swahili on Channel 224. While on GOtv is going to be available on SS World Cup Central Channel 361, SS World Cup Pass Channel 363 and SS World Cup Extra on Channel 365

In his remarks, Colin Asiimwe, Head of Marketing, MultiChoice Uganda, said that subscribers are able to leverage the streaming value-added service on DStv & GOtv. “Given the evolving viewing habits where streaming continues to grow rapidly, subscribers will be able to watch the World Cup at their convenience anytime, anywhere through the DStv Stream and GOtv Stream apps on their smart TV sets, smartphones, tablets or laptops.”

He further explained that affordability is one of their biggest priorities for this tournament and that is why DStv & GOtv have tiered down access to the FIFA World Cup to DStv Access and GOtv Plus packages at monthly subscription fees of just UGX 49,000 and UGX 36,000 respectively.

“To make this even easier, customers can subscribe through a flexible 7-day Ka Weekie subscription option at just UGX15,000 for DStv Access and UGX 11,500 for GOtv Plus, allowing them to stay connected to the action week by week. We have done this because we want every Ugandan to enjoy every moment of the tournament live on SuperSport at an affordable price,” he said.

As part of the campaign, MultiChoice Uganda also unveiled special decoder and hardware promotions running from 11th May to 31st August 2026. DStv Standard decoders are retailing at UGX 20,000, DStv Zappers at UGX 15,000, Exploras at UGX 559,000 and full kits at UGX 45,000, while GOtv decoders (Gotenna) are available at UGX 15,000.

“These offers are designed to make it easier for families and football fans across the country to upgrade or join the DStv and GOtv family ahead of the World Cup,” Asiimwe said.

Customers will also have an opportunity to participate in the SuperSport predict and win promotion via the DStv Stream app where fans can predict match outcomes throughout the whole tournament for a chance to win amazing prizes from MultiChoice.
