On Friday, the Uganda Young Democrats led by their President Michael Mpunge paid a courtesy visit to the Lubiri in Mengo to present the amakula to the Kingdom of Buganda in honor of His Majesty the Kabaka.
The amakula were received on behalf of the Kabaka and the Kingdom by the Speaker of the Lukiiko, who delivered a message from the Katikkiro.
Mpunge said: “We express our sincere appreciation for the warm reception and for the message conveyed, which emphasized the importance of discipline, respect for cultural values, and proper conduct among young people. In particular, the guidance urging youth to uphold decorum during cultural ceremonies and public gatherings is timely and important in preserving our traditions and dignity as a society.”
He added: “As Uganda Young Democrats, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting responsible youth leadership, respect for cultural institutions, and positive conduct within our communities.
We also take this opportunity to rally all young people and the general public to actively participate in this year’s Kabaka Birthday Run under the theme Men for Good Health to Save the Girl Child and the Fight to End HIV/AIDS by 2030. We encourage everyone to purchase kits and support this noble cause.
Together, through shared responsibility and respect for our values, we can build a disciplined, healthy, and united society.” (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
