Susan Kushaba, the former Owino market chairperson and also a big-name cadre of both the NRM and PLU, says the rich have ganged up and are determined to take and personalize all public property in Kampala in the service of their self-aggrandizement agenda.
Kushaba, who is also a business owner in Owino market where she started out as a vendor more than 15 years ago, says that public land belonging to government public schools, open recreation grounds and markets has all been carefully profiled by the mighty and they see the 2026-2031 period as the best time to actualize their ambition.
During the live-streamed interview with Mulengera News’ Aggrey Baba, Kushaba enumerated the public schools and markets which are going to be shared in the next few years from now. She claimed that the determined Kampala tycoons have recruited more than enough allies among Kampala’s elected leaders, judicial officers, the media and parliament to ensure that whoever stands in their way immediately gets isolated and crashed.
Kushaba added that the invincibility of what she called the mafia actors can only be circumvented by the deliberate intervention by the First Lady Janet Museveni in her capacity as the education and her fearless son Gen MK in his capacity as the Chief of Defense Forces. Kushaba, who knows Gen Museveni very well (for he always refers to her as my daughter), added that the President is now being taken advantage of and he is vulnerable largely because of the physical and mental exhaustion that comes with advanced age.
During the Luganda interview, Susan Kushaba made her case, justifying the proposed urgent intervention of Janet and Gen MK, as follows: “Gen MK has locus to get involved in what is happening because as CDF he has interest in peace and stability whose continuity can’t be guaranteed if the urban poor, who are now so frustrated to the extent of developing suicidal thoughts, continue to be deprived and chased away from Kampala.”
She added: “And Mama Janet Museveni must intervene because as education Minister, she wouldn’t want to see land belonging to public schools being shared among private individuals who end up creating the impression that they are proxies for the big people in government, whereas not.” (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
