NRM Women Turn Heat On Adrine Kobusingye, Already Regretting not Voting Faridah Kibowa

By Mulengera Reporters

There are indications that members of the NRM women league fraternity are already regretting their cash-induced decision to vote moneybags Adrine Kobusingye as their new national chairperson, while actively sidelining Faridah Kibowa.

Kobusingye, who didn’t have much history in the NRM women league circles, when compared to her more famous rivals like Lydia Wanyoto and Faridah Kibowa, won the vote and became the new chairperson last September during the party’s delegates conference that was held at Kololo.

Today, barely seven months later, there is growing regret which some of her own constituents have been demonstrating on social media especially on WhatsApp platforms. They say that apart from positioning to take photos with big people in government to generate content for her social media platforms, there isn’t much Kobusingye, who promised a lot, has done for her constituency.

There was anticipation that she was going to fast track for incorporation of the NRM women league members Sacco into which Gen Museveni would be cajoled to sink billions of shillings. This hasn’t yet happened and it doesn’t seem to be a priority at all for Adrine Kobusingye. Women say it’s not easy to get in touch with her beyond seeing her dancing videos and pictures on social media platforms. “She wants to be seen as someone with vibe but we can’t eat vibe,” said one NRM women league leader.

In contrast, Kibowa has remained accessible, supportive and is praised for always using whatever platform she gets to lobby for her constituents in the National Women’s Council where she serves as the Chairperson.

She is now seeking reelection for the NWC role and there is suspicion that she isn’t yet done regarding her ambition to one day become Chairperson for both NRM Women League and the NWC. Women believe she is more authentic and has more organic connections and rapport with big people inside the NRM where she has a lot of history. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
