In a bold show of strength and determination, President Yoweri Museveni and his loyal NRM supporters braved a heavy downpour at a rally in Nansana, Wakiso district, sending a clear message to his rival, Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) of the National Unity Platform (NUP). Museveni’s supporters, undeterred by the rain, proved that they would go to any lengths to back their candidate, even in the worst weather conditions.
While Bobi Wine had been seen as the only one who could draw the bravest crowds, willing to endure rain or extreme heat for his cause, Museveni’s rally at the Kawanda Research Centre under Nansana Municipality showed that the NRM could gather huge crowds of passionate, loyal supporters, no matter the conditions.
Standing under an umbrella, Museveni spoke to the people, with his bodyguards standing out in the rain, showing his leadership and dedication.
First Lady Janet Museveni joined in, calling the rain a “blessing” and likening it to the struggles of the Israelites in their journey to the Promised Land. She urged the people of Nansana Municipality to vote for President Museveni and all NRM candidates, promising that God would guide them to prosperity.
During the rally, Museveni praised the resilience of his supporters, saying their willingness to stand in the rain was a true reflection of the fighting spirit that drives the NRM. He also continued to focus on his message of economic empowerment, highlighting that Wakiso had received 52 billion shillings from the Parish Development Model (PDM) to help lift people out of poverty.
He acknowledged that while the funds had helped 47,000 homes, there were still areas where the distribution needed to be fairer. However, he made it clear that any issues would be solved; promising that anyone caught stealing money from the people would face consequences.
Museveni also praised the hardworking people of Wakiso for using the funds to improve their lives, including raising animals like goats and pigs, and running small businesses. Despite the progress, he acknowledged challenges like limited access to piped water in certain areas of the Municipality and electricity problems at some health centers.
He promised an investigation of the alleged diversion of PDM funds saying Dennis Galabuzi Ssozi, the National Coordinator of the PDM, and Minister of Local Government, Hon. Raphael Magyezi will conduct a probe to establish what went wrong.
The rally also attracted international attention, with the King of Ghana, Omanhen Charles Henry Woode, and his wife attending the event. This high-profile visit added to the significance of the rally, showing that Museveni’s influence reaches far beyond Uganda’s borders. prominent Nansana Municipality residents attended and spoke at the mammoth rally including Pastor Wilson Bugembe, who like fellow singer Bobi Wine, belongs to the Mbogo/Buffalo clan.
As the 2026 voting day approaches, Museveni’s message is clear: the NRM is not just a party; it’s a movement, and with his supporters standing strong, he’s ready to lead Uganda into a future of growth and prosperity.
