Seven Hills City Cleaners Pledge 95% Kampala Vote for Museveni in 2026

The Seven Hills Cleaners, Desilters, and Landscapers Cooperative Society has pledged to deliver 95% of the Kampala vote in support of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the 2026 general elections.

At a passionate press conference held in Rubaga Division, the cooperative representing over 15,000 mobilized members across the city announced its full endorsement of the President.

The declaration was led by Hope Amayo, Manager of the Seven Hills Makindye Division branch, who cited President Museveni’s personal recognition and support for their mission as the foundation of their commitment.

“Our support comes from the transformation we’ve experienced thanks to His Excellency,” said Amayo. “In 2023, when others misunderstood or dismissed our work, President Museveni saw our value and helped restore dignity to our efforts.”

Presidential Recognition and KCCA Partnership

Members recalled a pivotal moment during a 2023 event at Kololo, where President Museveni publicly commended the work of Seven Hills and applauded the then Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director Dorothy Kisaka for integrating marginalized populations into structured, impactful roles.

The initiative has seen the rehabilitation and employment of thousands of “Young Reds” a group made up of former street children, ex-convicts, former sex workers, and others previously involved in petty crime. With KCCA’s backing, Seven Hills has helped these individuals become active agents in cleaning, landscaping, and beautifying Kampala.

“Dorothy Kisaka helped me escape prostitution and crime to become a responsible citizen,” said Samuel Kisame, Chairman of Seven Hills Nakawa Division.

He also praised Sharifah Buzeki for sustaining this transformative mission after Kisaka’s tenure.

Grassroots Power and 2026 Mobilization

Menton Salim Bakyenga, Coordinator of Seven Hills and Chairman of the Makindye Division branch, emphasized that the cooperative is now a powerful grassroots force and politically aligned with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).

“We are ready to face critics head-on. Our strategy is door-to-door, village-to-village,” Bakyenga said. “We’re not just cleaners we’re change agents. And we pledge to deliver over 95% of the vote in Kampala for President Museveni.”

Farouk Bulime, aspiring Mayor of Kawempe Division and Chairman of Seven Hills Kawempe, echoed this, urging members to turn their appreciation into action at the ballot box.

Seven Hills claims strong influence across Kampala’s five divisions, with active participation from local leaders, parish councilors, and village chairpersons.

According to Jafari Kisubi, Treasurer of the Seven Hills Kampala Central branch, the cooperative has built a robust mobilization network poised to counter opposition activity in the capital.

A Vision for Transformation and Inclusion

The cooperative also hailed President Museveni’s directive to KCCA to continue rehabilitating individuals considered “lost” by society offering them meaningful work and the chance to reclaim their dignity.

As Uganda moves deeper into the 2026 election season, Seven Hills affirmed its role as a critical pillar in grassroots mobilization.

“Our guiding principles dignity, transformation, and inclusion align perfectly with President Museveni’s enduring vision for Uganda,” their statement concluded. “For God and our country, we are committed to securing the future under his leadership.”

About Seven Hills

Seven Hills emerged in March 2021 during KCCA’s launch of the Smart City campaign, a drive to promote citizen involvement in urban cleaning and development.

The group began by desilting drainage systems and soon expanded to sweeping streets and landscaping.

Initially formed as a volunteer youth group composed of reformed gang members, Seven Hills rapidly grew to include community members from all walks of life.

Today, the group boasts over 5000 members per division across Kampala.

However, their rise has not been without controversy. Seven Hills has expressed interest in securing formal cleaning contracts an ambition that has sparked tension with existing community SACCOs previously contracted for the same services.

In 2021, as SACCO contracts approached expiration, clashes reportedly erupted between the two groups.

SACCO members accused Seven Hills of encroaching on their work zones and using intimidation tactics to force them out allegations that Seven Hills denies.

Despite past disputes, the cooperative insists it remains focused on its core mission: transforming lives, beautifying the city, and contributing to Uganda’s progress—both socially and politically.
