Semujju Nganda Explains Why Gen MK Changed from Quiet First Son to Belligerent General

By Mulengera Reporters

Semujju Nganda says that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba changed from a withdrawn army officer he had always been into a belligerent General who is always on X declaring war and threatening to harm those he resents after realizing that his father, the only person he fears apart from his uncle Gen Salim Saleh, had become aged and not capable of sanctioning him in any significant way.

In a Saturday interview with this news website, moments after emerging from Capital Gang, Nganda admitted that it’s true MK began controversial tweets and belligerent behavior not many years ago yet he had always been around holding influential positions in the army. See video of the full Semujju Nganda interview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5LH-BMfSFI&t=17s.

He says that, given the proximity he has as First Son, Gen MK has keenly and closely observed that his once very energetic father has become old and not in position to occasion any meaningful sanctions unto him.

He realizes that there is less incentive to fear his father than was the case 5-10 years ago. That as CDF, Gen MK realizes there is a lot he can keep doing and get away with it even when his father doesn’t like it.

Nganda says he is fearful that without any effective guard-rails being in place, Gen MK is going to become more belligerent and more dangerous than Ugandans have seen thus far, which will be to the detriment of the country. He says that Ugandans should prepare themselves for more because the worst in Gen MK is yet to be manifested.

He also says MK would be even much worse than the country has seen so far if it weren’t Gen Museveni and his brother Saleh who keep trying their best to restrain him. He said he is worried that Gen MK is going to become more dangerous, repressive and intolerant of people with divergent views, many of whom will have to even be assassinated, because that is what the Rwandan President Paul Kagame, who the Ugandan First Son idolizes, does to his opponents.

Nganda also spoke about the few surviving NRA/UPDF historicals who fought in the bush being totally quiet as opposed to at least issuing a public statement calling out the current CDF. Saying many leaders are these days too terrified to raise a finger fearing retribution, Nganda said the surviving few Generals have effectively been silenced.

He gave the example of Gen David Sejusa, who used to be very outspoken against the MK Project to the extent that in May 2013 he had to run to exile in London fearing for his life, saying he currently is living under house arrest-like conditions making it hard for him to voice his opposition or contempt for the current CDF. Nganda said that what has happened in the MK case isn’t an isolated incident because Gen Museveni has been very deliberate in killing civil, political, military and security institutions.

We also asked him about the possibility of Gen MK getting to face personal international community-imposed sanctions at some point over Eddie Mutwe-like human rights violations as was the case with Gen Kale Kayihura and he declined to plunge into that saying this was very sensitive stuff. He preferred to discuss this in greater detail next time because he was getting late for the weekend public function he was running to somewhere.
