The Mukono Grade I Magistrate’s court has sent back to remand CPL David Sali and three other policers accused of killing a single apparent of 3 daughters Ronald Sebulime.
Court presided over by Mariam Nalugya has sent back the accused after the prosecution pleaded that they be sent back on remand since investigations are not complete. The trio are accused of shooting to death, Ronald Ssebulime March 2019 in Kayunga.
Ssali who is the Accused No1 and was first reportedly on run, appeared on Tuesday afternoon before Nalugya for the mention of his case. However, the State Prosecutor, Rachael Namutebi asked court for adjournment, saying investigations are still ongoing, which was granted on ground that once granted bail they might interfere with invetsigations.
Ssali is accused together with three other police officers for murdering Ssebulime in cold blood on March 24 in Mukono District. The officers intercepted Ssebulime, arrested and handcuffed before they pulled him out of the police van and shoot him thrice. Sebulime who was riding on a sport bike to visit his children at school was killed after the Information, Communication and Technology State Minister, Idah Nantaba reported to police that a man riding a huge motorcycle was after her life.
Ssali first appeared in court on April 11, 2019 on murder charges but the magistrate didn’t allow him to enter any plea since her court lacks jurisdiction on offences of capital nature. The accused will return to court on May 27th for the mention of the case. For comments, call or text us on 0752510225.
