With just days to go before the nomination window opens, the Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a fresh reminder to all aspiring candidates to ensure that their documents are complete and in order ahead of the 2026 Parliamentary nominations scheduled for October 22–23, 2025.
The call comes as tension builds across the country, with hundreds of hopefuls racing against time to meet all requirements for positions including Directly Elected Members of Parliament, District Woman Representatives, and candidates representing Special Interest Groups such as Youths, Persons with Disabilities, Workers, and Older Persons.
According to the EC, nominations will take place at the offices of District and City Returning Officers nationwide. Candidates are required to submit their completed forms and supporting documents within the two-day window.
Detailed guidelines and official nomination forms remain available on the Electoral Commission’s website for easy access.
The Commission has urged aspirants to double-check eligibility criteria and avoid last-minute rushes that could jeopardize their chances of appearing on the ballot.
An EC spokesperson described the nomination period as a critical stage in the electoral process and encouraged all aspiring candidates to prepare thoroughly and comply with the set procedures to ensure a smooth and transparent exercise.
Across the political spectrum, preparation is intensifying. From seasoned politicians eyeing re-election to first-time contenders eager to make their mark, the coming days are filled with urgency and expectation.
In districts across Uganda, printers are busy producing posters, supporters are mobilizing signatures, and teams are working late into the night to perfect every document.
As the countdown to nomination day continues, pressure is mounting and for many, these final steps could determine whether their political ambitions take flight or come to an abrupt halt.
