Nakivubo Channel upgrade, already one of the hottest talks in town, has sparked fresh fire after NBS TV anchor Samson Kasumba threw sharp jabs at city tycoon Hamis Kiggundu (Ham), questioning the quality of his multi-billion–shilling redevelopment project.
For some good time now, the project has been under siege from all corners, including politicians, activists, and city hustlers, but Ham has stood his ground, pouring concrete and confidence in equal measure. His latest brag, a video showing ongoing work with men at work, captioned “Steady progress at Nakivubo Channel Upgrade and Redevelopment | For God and My Country,” didn’t sit well for Dr. Kin Kaliisa’s boy.
While Ham flexed his progress online, in a stinging response, the veteran anchor demanded to know which engineer and consultancy firm was supervising the works, warning that without professional oversight, the controversial project could collapse under its own weight.
Kasumba said Ham had the muscle to build a stadium on the standard of Hoima’s pride if only he engaged the right experts. Instead, he fears Nakivubo could become a monument to missed opportunities.
“That place can become a wonder if you use the right people,” he fired, before adding that only time would tell if Ham’s gamble pays off.
For Ham, who has been swimming through storms of criticism with little sign of slowing down, Kasumba’s attack is just another wave in an already raging sea. Kasumba’s massage was clear, that in construction, shortcuts are like cracks in a dam; sooner or later, they burst.
