The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) hosted H.E. Takuya Sasayama, the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, in a high-level meeting aimed at bolstering tax administration, attracting investment, and enhancing infrastructure development.

During the discussions at URA headquarters in Nakawa, URA officials outlined efforts to modernize revenue collection and improve taxpayer services, emphasizing the critical role of international partnerships in achieving these goals.

Ambassador Sasayama reaffirmed Japan’s strong commitment to supporting Uganda’s economic development through capacity-building programs and technical expertise in tax administration.

The meeting also delved into strategies to create a more favorable tax environment for Japanese businesses in Uganda, ensuring that investment policies are clear, predictable, and business-friendly.

Infrastructure development, particularly in digital tax systems and automation, was highlighted as a key area where Japan’s support could drive efficiency.

Both parties acknowledged that robust tax policies are fundamental to economic growth and pledged to strengthen collaboration in the pursuit of transparency, efficiency, and sustainable development.

URA remains committed to leveraging international partnerships to enhance Uganda’s revenue mobilization and economic transformation. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
