Haruna Kasolo Is a Model NRM Cadre Who Should Be Emulated, Declares Hajji Moses Kigongo as Minister Becomes Unopposed for Kyotera County MP Seat

By Mulengera Reporters

This Wednesday, Haruna Kasolo’s credentials as an effective political leader manifested and got onto clear display during the ruling NRM political event in Kyotera where former rivals bowed and declared support for him.

Infront of NRM National Vice Chairman Moses Kigongo, Aloysius Kyabaggu, who had been battling to carry the NRM flag against the opposition’s Paul Mpalanyi, bowed out.

Kyabaggu made it clear that he had recognized that majority NRMs in all the Sub Counties were for Kasolo hence his decision to step down for him as opposed to wasting time continuing to be in a futile race that could even end up dividing the NRM support in Kyotera County where the opposition continues to threaten to turn tables. Kyabaggu made it clear before a cheering crowd that Kasolo remains the best person to captain the NRM team in Kyotera, going into 2026.

His words were subsequently corroborated by the outgoing Kyotera LC5 Chairman Kintu Kisekulo who, as of 2021, wasn’t seeing eye to eye with Haruna Kasolo. Kisekulo has since mended fences in order to find common ground and is now solidly behind Haruna Kasolo who is also the incoming CEC member for Buganda region for which he is destined to become party Vice Chairman. Infront of Al-Hajji Moses Kigongo, Kisekulo (who has chaired Kyotera District as LC5 boss for 10 years) declared he isn’t seeking re-election.

He made it clear that he is going to use the time available to him and the saved political energy to coordinate the campaigns of NRM giants like Haruna Kasolo as they campaign to recapture the entire Kyotera district for the President and their beloved NRM party.

Kisekulo, who is already the publicity secretary for the newly constituted NRM District Executive (DEC) for Kyotera, called for unity among party members and leaders, making it clear that victory is going to be theirs once they continue acting as one formidable force without intrigue.

In his speech, Kigongo saluted Minister Kasolo for the maturity, selflessness and effectiveness with which he was leading the ruling NRM political forces in Kyotera thus far.

It’s Kasolo’s humility, leadership and relentless desire to mend fences and find common ground that has resulted into the burying of the hatchet, with leaders of the Movement (who had gone into different directions) regrouping while agreeing to make Gen Museveni’s political party shine and great again in Kyotera, which was the man from Rwakitura’s stronghold for decades.

At the Wednesday event in Kyotera, fellow leaders unanimously praised Kasolo for insisting on finding common ground while letting by-gones to be by-gones. It was agreed that as he leads the countrywide fight to bring the Buganda CEC position to Greater Masaka for the first time, Kasolo needs to be assured of the block vote from his home turf where he has now qualified to be the sole NRM MP Candidate for Kyotera County.

This latest news from Kyotera re-energizes the CEC position campaign team as the Microfinance Minister continues consolidating his position as the frontrunner for the position of NRM Vice Chairman Buganda region. Kigongo told the jubilant crowd in Kyotera that the NRM party was proud of Haruna Kasolo’s leadership credentials, including humility and a corruption-free record, which he said had turned him into a model cadre whose conduct ought to be emulated by cadres in other parts of Uganda.

As they danced and celebrated the unity of purpose that was manifested at the Wednesday event, ordinary cadres present described Haruna Kasolo as a leader who despises intrigue and instead wishes everyone well.

“We like him very much because he is one leader who understands that these public positions are platforms to be used to empower and uplift others as opposed to suffocating them. He is public-spirited, genuinely loves people and has Kyotera at heart. That’s what we have missed in the last five years of his absence from the office of area MP,” asserted one elderly female cadre who was leading other cheer leaders at the Wednesday event in Kyotera. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
