Equity Bank Uganda and Nation Media Group (NMG) have launched discussions aimed at forming a long-term strategic media partnership that promotes inclusive economic transformation through sucxess storytelling and stakeholder engagement.

The discussions were initiated during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Equity Bank Uganda to NMG’s head office in Namuwongo, Kampala. The bank’s delegation was led by Managing Director Gift Shoko, accompanied by Olivia Mugaba, Head of SME Banking, and Clare Tumwebaze, Head of Marketing and Communications.

The team was received by Nation Media Group Uganda’s Managing Director, Susan Nsibirwa, along with senior officials from marketing, editorial, and commercial departments.

The Equity Bank team shared the institution’s vision to enhance economic empowerment, particularly through targeted interventions in agriculture, trade, manufacturing, retail, and the SME sector. The bank underscored its commitment to creating shared prosperity and sustainable livelihoods, pointing to its service base of over 2.3 million customers in Uganda.
The visit also provided an opportunity to reflect on the bank’s broader social impact initiatives, including expanding access to affordable credit for youth, women, and farmers, and supporting vulnerable populations such as refugees, programs which Equity considers to be vital in driving financial inclusion and social protection across the country.

On her part, the NMG Managing Director emphasized the group’s extensive media footprint across East Africa, including platforms such as Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, KFM, and The East African, noting that these platforms are well-positioned to support the Bank’s mission by amplifying human-interest stories that reflect enterprise success, resilience, and transformation at the grassroots level.

NMG acknowledged the long-standing partnership with the Bank, particularly it’s sponsorship of the Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies survey, and its ongoing involvement in various development-focused engagements. NMG further indicated interest in strengthening this relationship through customized content creation, media visibility, and advocacy-focused storytelling aligned with Uganda’s national development goals.

Both institutions expressed shared interest in deepening collaboration through strategic media engagement, with a focus on real-life narratives of entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and community impact.

The partnership is envisioned to position both organizations as champions of economic development, while enhancing public awareness around issues of prosperity and enterprise growth.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to continued dialogue and innovation around storytelling as a driver of inclusive progress.

The initiative marks a step forward in aligning financial services with the press to influence positive change and national advancement.
