Some of the long-serving FDC officials are unhappy with the gigantic Soroti City West MP Jonathan Ebwalu and the very conspicuous role he is playing in Candidate Nandala Mafabi’s campaign for President.
And their hatred for Ebwalu derives from the speed at which he has found favour with their Party Principal and Presidential Candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
Because he stood as an independent MP Candidate in 2021, such envious FDC officials consider Ebwalu to be less committed to the FDC party broader cause than themselves.
Nandala started by making Ebwalu his personal assistant and made it clear that whoever wanted access to him had to go through him. This was months ago and when he became a Candidate for President, Nandala annoyed such haters even more when he made Ebwalu his campaign manager closely working under Mzee Jack Sabiiti.
Such roles have always been one way through which long-serving opposition parties’ officials access some good money as they get to handle the Candidate’s cash and logistics during the campaigning period. By giving such a significant role to Ebwalu, whom he favored on merit, Nandala Mafabi inadvertently created more problems for him than he solved.
Haters inside the party have lately been calling each other on phone to privately bad-mouth Ebwalu while plotting his downfall and total political destruction in the ballot box come next January elections.
Some have gone as far as resorting to prayers imploring God to help them ensure that Ebwalu loses his Soroti City West MP Seat to rich man Calvin Echodu who he controversially defeated in 2021. Echodu now is a big man sitting in NRM CEC, having overwhelmed Mike Mukula at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds last month.
Other haters have gone as far as praying hard that big man Nandala Mafabi all of a sudden turn against Ebwalu and chases him away from his campaign trail and other responsibilities.
Some envious party officials have tried to dupe Nandala with fake claims that Ebwalu is a man of lukewarm commitment to Nandala and the FDC cause because he works well with Speaker Anita Among and his former Voice of Teso boss Mike Mukula. But the outgoing Budadiri County West MP has disregarded all that.
Some FDC insiders expected to make a lot of money from Nandala during the campaign time and now accuse Ebwalu of working with some family members to diminish their frequent access to the party’s Presidential Candidate.
Some have resorted to praying hard that voters reject Nandala Mafabi and he ends up performing very badly so that they put all the blame on his campaign manager Jonathan Ebwalu.
Some envious party officials are fearful of the fact that Nandala Mafabi might favour Ebwalu to become the new Secretary General of FDC or get any other powerful position inside the Najjanankumbi-based party.
