Masaka Municipality youth councilor and district youth secretary on the DP executive Ronald Kasekende has dared Butambala County MP Muwanga Kivumbi to take him to court suing for defamation if he feels offended and considers his social media posts false and defaming. Over the weekend, Kasekende posted a strongly worded facebook rant in which he attacked Muwanga Kivumbi below the belt.
WHAT HE POSTED: Kasekende posted the following statement:
*OPEN LETTER TO MR MUWANGA KIVUMBI.*
I greet the people of *Butambala* and pass my warmest regards.
I also greet my brothers and sisters from greater Masaka. Today [Saturday] there has been several meetings held in Masaka among those is this one where *Mr Muwanga Kivumbi* attended to solicit votes for Secretary General of DP disguising in the agenda “reorganizing UYD”. I want to categorically state that Mr Kivumbi will never be S.G of DP, he should stop thinking in a perspective that probably Sinai is the plural of sinus.” He has in this meeting branded me as a mad man from Masaka and I shall also not shy away to brand him accordingly; The way he has behaved today’ the honorable Member has left proof that a pig’s bladder on a stick can be elected to Parliament.” Mr Kivumbi “I don’t want to be rude but, really, you have the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk.” How could you come to Masaka and start disrespecting young people. We are the next generation, we shall be those to finish your unfinished business so every young leader deserves respect. Never abuse young people because at my age you didn’t achieve anything as I have achieved, you rather happened to be a married man sleeping in a woman’s kafunda. You used to eat one meal at the mercy of some old ugly woman. I saluted people of Butambala because they helped you so much to organize you into a responsible person now you achieved your dreams; buying a Toyota Car: buying sugar and meat at your new big Muzigo and capacity to sleep with young girls. This sounds as a warming to all partronising leaders who don’t respect young people. What we are today we’ve worked to achieve. What you’re today has been achieved by manipulating electorates. *Note* I don’t expect a reply to this letter because I have more than 100 replies to send back. THE CONTEXT:
Ronald Kasekende’s anger resulted from the weekend meeting Muwanga and other DP MPs held at a location called Kimanya Canteen (near Blessed Sacrament P/S) to discuss on how to revive DP youth structures in greater Masaka. Masaka Municipality MP Mathias Mpuuga convened the meeting to which Muwanga and other DP MPs were invited. Other like-minded MPs at the meeting were new Kyotera woman MP Robinah Sentongo, Mpuuga and Bukomansimbi woman MP Veronica Nanyondo. In his speech Muwanga, who Kasekende says was improperly introduced as the UYD leader in Uganda, cautioned youth against becoming excited to vote unworthy leaders for DP in the upcoming party elections expected mid-June 2018. He then gave the example of Ronald Kasekende saying he is an example of the many mad men DP has in leadership positions in the Masaka area. Kasekende (who disputes the meeting for a number of reasons including the convener, the venue and the caliber of youths invited) says he had planted spies in the meeting who recorded and passed over to him everything Kivumbi said belittling his status as an elected leader. Kasekende claims Kivumbi attacked him because Mpuuga, his host, is also interested in the Secretary General position for DP for which he (Kasekende) is already campaigning. “I immediately stormed the venue but I found him gone. If I found him there, God knows how I was going to strangle him until he tells me what he exactly has against me,” Kasekende told this news website via telephone. “That meeting was sham because first of all the people they invited are from Rakai, a district that has just learnt to vote DP leaders. Secondly Muwanga Kivumbi is too old to have been introduced as a UYD leader. They sidelined DP structures for Masaka which are there and are well known. And Kambugu whom they put in place as the UYD Chairman Masaka isn’t a youth anymore. He is a councilor for Nyendo. I have his birth certificate and the man is too old to be in youth structures. Innocent Kateregga is the UYD chairman according to their sham meeting and they want to use him to antagonize Paddy Senkungu whom we all know to be the DP Youth Chairman for Masaka. I’m the secretary on Senkungu’s DP youth executive and we shall not allow those machinations by Mpuuga to disorganize DP once again after Hon Mbidde our legitimate DP Chairman Masaka struggled to re-unite it,” vowed Kasekende who had no kind words for Mpuuga the convener. “He has never been a DP member at heart and that is why he isn’t in any party structures. He is an opportunist who came for DP ticket in order to become the MP for the 2nd term. His ratings had fallen and was fearing defeat. He is now disorganizing us. How come Hon Mary Kabanda who is the Masaka woman MP didn’t attend their sham meeting? They got Sentongo and Nanyondo because they are political novices and Nanyondo, who we gave the office after the death of her sister Susan Namaganda, is so politically naïve she doesn’t even know what UYD stands for in full,” Kasekende said threatening to expose the Bukomansimbi MP’s sex secrets if they don’t stop provoking him. “I reached the meeting and found her gone but I gave the message to her driver and tight friend Innocent Kateregga to go inform her that these type of meetings are needed in Bukomansimbi more because there is the problem of Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi who is busy uprooting DP structures, confusing and taking our youth leaders to Museveni.” Kasekende also says that, having failed to get the genuine local DP youth leaders, the organizers resorted to driving to Mutesa 1 Royal University where they got students and crowded them in the Kimanya Canteen where they indoctrinated them from. “I stand by all I have stated about Muwanga Kivumbi and much more. I know his poverty before joining Parliament. I was a student at Datamine and he used to come there for cash handouts from Hon Mpuuga and I challenge him to oppose what I’m saying and you will see if I won’t post much more. He will have nowhere to hide. Its better he keeps quiet because he has opened a war which he can’t win.” We tried to speak to MP Muwanga Kivumbi for his side of the story but the Butambala MP characteristically never picked our calls. Yet Kasekende gave more reasons why Muwanga Kivumbi has no moral authority to lecture Masaka on how to build party structures. He said: “He is the MP for Butambala but we have no DP structures there. He just has a small clique of DP members who converged and made him flag bearer without any competition. They then write to headquarters that this is our flag bearer. In Masaka we have real structures from villages to district level where Mbidde is our chairman. How come he is the only DP leader coming from Butambala? And if he continues provoking us we shall expose him for sabotaging other DP candidates in Butambala while allying with NRM candidates.” He advised Muwanga to be man enough and declare that he wants the post for DP Secretary General “rather than thinking destroying me first will give him the slot on a silver platter.” For comments, call/text/whatsapp us on 0703164755!
