Old Age’s Illness Which Is Why Your M7 is Past His Sale-by Date: Makerere’s Yusuf Sserunkuma Tells Off NRM Sycophants

By Mulengera Reporters
Provocative as always, renowned political theorist and newspaper columnist Yusuf Sserunkuma has once again challenged Gen Museveni’s supporters to become more realistic and alive to the fact that their man is old and not growing any younger or more energetic at all.
Sserunkuma says that all Ugandans must be ashamed of a ruling party whose supporters consider it to be such a big achievement to have an 81-year-old leader walk around energetically or manage to walk ahead of his bodyguards and minders who, out of politeness, decide not to outpace him. He wonders why Museveni being able to walk around energetically has to be paraded on Tik Tok by his supporters as a big achievement.
He contrasts that with modern technology in a rapidly-changing world where Iran can bomb Israel for days without deploying a single soldier on the ground. He mocks Uganda over the fact that the best which the ruling party supporters can showcase is a video clip of a President capable of energetically walking around unsupported!
Sserunkuma implores NRM supporters to accept the fact that, at 81 years, their man is past his sale-by date and there isn’t much he can do to benefit the country after 40 years of misrule. He says that the continued stay in power only helps Museveni to shield himself from personal embarrassment which he knows awaits him in the life after State House.
He calls on Uganda’s Crown Prince Gen MK to be the most angry at Museveni’s endless Presidency because it has condemned him to endless waiting and political uncertainty. That MK, who is now 52 years, will be 57 by the time Museveni finishes his 8th term in 2031 and 63 by the time he finishes his 9th in 2036.
He describes MK, who he incites to upstage his father and take over, as being too close yet too far from the apex seat of power at the same time because of the uncertainty that comes with Gen Museveni’s endless and uncertain Presidency.
He claims that this endless and uncertain waiting must be frustrating to Gen MK as a person which is why he keeps unleashing his anger on ‘small chaps’ in the opposition like Eddie Mutwe or even Bobi Wine as opposed to confronting his dad.
Dr. Serunkuma calls on Gen MK to realize that the only obstacle standing between him and the Presidency is his own dad and not the small chaps in the opposition. In his Observer column, Serunkuma calls on Gen MK to demonstrate real toughness of a 4 star General by directly confronting the Elephant in the room rather than wasting time on small hapless chaps in the opposition.
He predicts that 2026 will have Museveni emerge as President as his NRM party continues to numerically dominate Parliament and local councils. He says that the 2026 elections cycle will be nothing but a circus which is painful to Museveni and people of Uganda whose taxes will have to be expended on a very expensive exercise whose outcome is already known.
That the same is costly to Museveni because he will inevitably be required to unleash (very embarrassing) brutal force and ruthlessness, which will leave thousands of opponents’ youthful supporters jailed and others killed, in order to once again get his way back to State House.
