Uganda’s Most Popular Women MPs Under The 12th Parliament as Gazetted By the Indep Electoral Commission

The latest edition of the Uganda Gazette, which is the official government newspaper and which the mandated Uganda Printing & Publishing Corporation (UPPC) proclaimed this week, shows Uganda’s least and most popular Women MPs-elect.

 

This is based on the final results of the 15th January elections during which Ugandans voted for their President and legislators to represent them in the legislature for the next 5 years under the 12th Parliament (2026-2031). This listing focusses on the most popular Women MPs, under the 12th Parliament, representing Uganda’s districts and Cities.

The list includes the following: Betty Engora NRM, Apac district (22,882 votes), Bundibugyo’s Bebona Josephine Babungi/NRM (34,169), Bushenyi’s Annet Mugisha Katusiime/NRM (59,472), Hoima’s Beatrice Wembabazi/NRM (35,811), Iganga’s Maria Seifu/NRM (49,198), Jinja’s Peace Tibyaze/NRM (28,733), Kampala’s Shamim Malende/NUP (196,497), Kamuli’s Rebecca Kadaga/NRM (86,071), Kapchorwa’s Phyllis Chemutai/Indep (23,873), Kasese’s Sarah Itungu Masereka/NRM (83,121), Kibale’s Annet Nabadduka/Indep (26,418), Kiboga’s Desire Muhooza/NRM (26,038), Kisoro’s Grace Achifeza Ngabirano/NRM (74,700), Kitgum’s Lillian Aber/NRM (42,917), Kotido’s Hafsa Nuria Teko/Indep (28,820), Kumi’s Christian Apolot/Indep (30,400), Lira district’s Agnes Linda Auma/NRM (42,329), Luwero’s Brenda Nabukenya/NUP (67,399), Masindi’s Florence Asiimwe Akiki/NRM (59,140), Mbale’s Miriam Mukhaye/NRM (41,104), Mbarara’s Roydah Kyarikunda Twinomujuni/NRM (31,456), Mpigi’s Teddy Nambooze/NUP (41,572), Mubende’s Hope Grania Nakazibwe/NRM (70,768), Mukono’s Amaniyo Sheila Draville/NUP (104,057), Nebbi’s Phiona Nyamutoro/NRM (unopposed), Ntungamo’s Viola Namanya/NRM (140,271), Pallisa’s Catherine Achola/NRM (61,800), Rakai’s Juliet Ssuubi Kinyamatama/NRM (41,684 beating several others including NUP’s Grace Nalubega who polled29,039 votes), Rukungiri Mary Paula Turyahikayo Kebirungi/NRM (59,448), Soroti’s Anna Adeke Ebaju/FDC (33,732), Tororo’s Angela Okoth Nzokire/Indep (78,5420), Adjumani’s Jessica Ababiku/NRM (35,773), Bugiri’s Eunice Namatende/NRM (50,020), Busia’s Janet Hope Anyango/NRM (39,918), Katakwi’s Jessica Alupo/NRM (unopposed) and Nakasongola’s Victorius Zawedde/NRM (32,866).

From Uganda’s Cities, the most popular women MPs according to the Gazette include the following: Arua City’s Mourin Osoru/NRM (39,347), Jinja’s Sarah Lwansasula/NUP (21,665), Mbarara’s Charity Kibaju Kamuhanda/NRM (23,413), Mbale’s Lydia Wanyoto Mutende/NRM (38,097), Masaka’s Justine Nameere/NRM (25,502), Lira City’s Ruth Jane Acheng Ocero/NRM (38,505 beating UPC’s Betty Amongi Ongom who got 26,503 votes). Other City winners included Hoima’s Asinasi Nyakato/PFF (17,142), Soroti’s Joan Acom Alobo/FDC (19,040), Fort Portal’s Irene Linda/NRM (19,324), Gulu City’s Betty Aol Ocan/PFF (17,597).
