On the early morning of Thursday, January 16, 2025, Entebbe International Airport marked a momentous occasion as Flynas, a leading low-cost airline, landed its inaugural direct flight from Riyadh to Entebbe at 3:30 a.m.
The sleek Airbus 320 neo touched down amidst cheers and a grand water cannon salute, symbolizing the start of a fresh and exciting partnership between Uganda and Saudi Arabia. This milestone flight, which departed an hour later at 4:30 a.m., highlights the growing importance of connecting the Middle East and East Africa for both business and leisure travelers.
Flynas has announced that it will operate three weekly flights on this route, scheduled every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. This consistent service promises convenience for passengers, promoting tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two regions.
The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has expressed its excitement over this development, stating that the new flights will strengthen Uganda’s connectivity to the global travel network. [We warmly welcome Flynas and their commitment to enhancing travel options for passengers flying between Riyadh and Entebbe. This partnership will open up opportunities for growth in tourism, trade, and other sectors], a UCAA official remarked.
With affordable fares and reliable service, Flynas is poised to become a key player in facilitating travel to and from Uganda. The introduction of this route is not just about planes and schedules, but a testament to Uganda’s growing appeal as a destination and a hub in the heart of Africa.
