A snake that hides in the grass will one day be exposed by the wind. Such is the storm brewing between Makindye East MP Hon. Derick Nyeko and former Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Mathias Mpuuga, over allegations of tribalism and corruption.
Hon. Nyeko has come out guns blazing, accusing Mpuuga of fostering discrimination and unethical dealings within his circles.
According to Nyeko, he was sidelined purely because of his background, an irony considering Mpuuga himself has long criticized discrimination in Uganda.
Nyeko claims that Mpuuga even sent fellow legislator, Abed Bwanika, to the President’s home simply because he did not trust someone from Dokolo. “It is shocking that a leader who preaches against division can be the same person practicing it behind closed doors,” Nyeko remarked.
The Makindye East MP further stated that after confronting Mpuuga and his associates about corruption, he refused to be part of what he termed as “twisted schemes.”
Nyeko alleges that discussions were even held about eliminating him for standing against their questionable dealings.
With Mpuuga rumored to be eyeing the presidency, Nyeko warned Ugandans to be wary of leaders who preach water but drink wine. “How can a man who thrives on division and corruption expect to lead a united nation?” he questioned.
These claims add another layer to the growing controversies surrounding Mathias Mpuuga, leaving many wondering, if the Nyendo-Mukungwe man will be able to clear his name, or the storm wash away his ambitions.
