The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has attributed separate water supply interruptions in Mityana and Entebbe to electricity supply challenges and a mechanical pump failure, according to updates posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) page on 22 June 2026.
In Mityana, NWSC reported that a power supply challenge at its water treatment facility in Nakatongole had temporarily disrupted water production and distribution across Mityana Municipality.
The corporation noted that the interruption had affected normal operations at the plant, adding that it was working closely with the Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) to resolve the issue. NWSC indicated that normal water supply would resume once power is restored and the system stabilises.
On the same day, NWSC reported a separate disruption in Entebbe caused by a mechanical fault on one of the main high lift pumps at Entebbe Water Works.
The fault affected water production and disrupted supply schedules along Entebbe Road and surrounding areas, prompting intervention by a team of specialist engineers tasked with restoring full operations.
The affected areas include parts of Entebbe Town, Nsamizi, Uring Crescent, CAA Flats, Busambaga, Katabi, Kigungu, Kitooro, Lunyo, Abaita, Ababiri, Kasenyi, Mpala, Kitala, Garuga Road, Nakawuka Road, and nearby communities.
NWSC urged residents in the affected areas to use available water sparingly while repair works continue, noting that efforts are underway to restore normal supply in the shortest time possible.
The utility expressed regret over the inconvenience caused in both Mityana and Entebbe, and appreciated customers for their patience and understanding during the interruptions.
