The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) has announced ongoing pipeline reconfiguration works in the Kyengera Service Area, aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of water supply across the growing urban corridor.
According to an update posted on NWSC’s official X (formerly Twitter) page on 23 June 2026, the works are being undertaken at Nakawuka and the Old Masaka Road Junction, key nodes in the area’s water distribution network. The utility said the intervention is part of its broader infrastructure improvement programme designed to strengthen service delivery in rapidly expanding communities.
NWSC noted that the reconfiguration works are expected to be completed by 4:00 PM on the same day, after which normal water supply is anticipated to be restored progressively across affected zones.
The corporation added that engineers are working around the clock to complete the exercise within the scheduled timeframe and minimise disruption to customers.
The temporary works have affected several areas within the Kyengera Service Area. These include Kyengera Town Council, Mugongo, Buddo, Wakimese, Nabaziza, Nakasozi, Nabbingo, Bataka, Namagoma, Nsangi, Katereke, and surrounding communities.
NWSC explained that the pipeline reconfiguration is necessary to improve pressure management and distribution efficiency in the area, particularly as demand continues to grow due to rapid population increase and urban expansion along the Kampala–Masaka corridor.
The utility appealed to customers in the affected areas to remain patient during the short-term disruption, noting that the inconvenience is part of efforts to deliver a more stable and reliable water supply system in the long term.
NWSC further assured residents that technical teams are closely monitoring the works to ensure safety and timely completion, with restoration of normal supply expected immediately after the exercise is finalised.
The corporation expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their continued patience and cooperation while the essential infrastructure improvements are undertaken.
Once completed, NWSC said the reconfiguration is expected to enhance water flow stability, reduce supply interruptions, and improve overall service delivery across the Kyengera Service Area and its surrounding settlements.
