What happens when a man who has spent years building an image of success returns home with nothing but his pride and a story to protect? That is the premise of Musama, a new Ugandan comedy series that explores the hilarious consequences of trying to keep up appearances when life refuses to cooperate.
Created by Kyomugisha Sharon, Musama follows Kennedy, portrayed by Felix Bwanika Baale, a Ugandan man who returns home after seven years in Atlanta, convinced that his American experience has earned him the status of a successful businessman. However, his homecoming quickly turns into a nightmare when he loses all his belongings on his first day back, leaving him with little more than the clothes on his back and an ego that refuses to take a hit.
Unable to return to America, Kennedy must find a way to survive in Kampala while concealing the truth about his circumstances. Presenting himself as a “Global Business Consultant,” he resorts to questionable business ideas, elaborate lies and a carefully maintained image of success to convince those around him that he is still the big man he claims to be.
The series draws much of its humour from the contrast between Kennedy’s grand claims and his everyday struggles. From his self-proclaimed business credentials to his attempts to maintain the appearance of wealth, his determination to protect his reputation creates a steady stream of comic situations.
Beyond the laughs, Musama taps into the pressures of success, the desire to maintain appearances and the lengths people sometimes go to in order to protect their pride. Through Kennedy’s experiences, the series offers a humorous look at the gap between the lives people project and the realities they face.
The show features a colourful cast of characters, including Kennedy’s loyal friend Moti played by Bukenya Jovan, Eyu Britney as Kennedy’s girlfriend Sanyu, his landlady and creditor Aunty G portrayed by Kunihira Carol. Together, they create a lively world in which every attempt to escape trouble seems to lead to another.
Talking about the new show, Hassan Saleh, the CEO at MultiChoice Uganda, said the series promises audiences a distinctly Ugandan comedy rooted in the everyday realities, relationships and ambitions of life in Kampala. “With its blend of colourful characters, escalating mishaps and the enduring bond between two friends, Musama invites viewers to laugh at the chaos that unfolds when ambition meets reality.”
The series is set to premiere on October 1st, 2026 at 7:30 PM on Pearl Magic Prime, Channel 148 on DStv and Channel 303 on GOtv. Viewers can then tune in every Thursday, same time to catch the show.
