NAMUGANZA NEEDS TO BE LISTENED TO

By Kungu Al-mahadi Adam

Over this week, the country was marred with news of a reported escalated sour relationship between lands minister Hon Princess Persis Namuganza and Speaker of Parliament Rt hon Rebecca Kadaga, originating from the different people they with for the Kyabazingaship.

The Busoga Parliamentary Caucus on Friday 9 in her absence dismissed hon Namuganza from the group saying, she acted contrary to the Busoga norms when she allegedly mobilized her constituents to kill Kadaga and the Kyabazinga Nadiope IV.

I find the decision so unfair and myopic. Why should you dismiss your member basing on mere allegations without listening to her side.

They claim she was invited and didn’t respond, but when was she notified? It would have made more sense if she was summoned on several occasions. But even then, a phone call should have worked.

Hon Namuganza raises very Paramount issues among which accuses the speaker of installing a Bukono chief, without her knowledge yet she is the area legislator. Kadaga’s action was improper, it was ego at play and so, anybody, even myself would fight to reclaim my authority.

Not listening to her by the committee, deepened the fact that the committee vice chairperson Moses Grace Balyeku, is a ‘Kadaga boy’ and his verbal utterances against the person of Namuganza were rooted from his massive loyalty to Kadaga and Princess Nadiope IV.

The issues in Busoga surrounding who the Kyabazinga should be are very technical and if not handled with care, may leader to a genocide. They shouldn’t be handled with ego and supremacy. Sitting on the table as stakeholders should be the way forward.

Hon Namuganza speaks and fights for a large section of Basoga and silencing such a huge group of people is unwise.

In fact Hon Namuganza claims Kadaga has no Busoga at heart and this is solely why, Busoga remains dipped in massive poverty, hunger, low education and health levels and the worst roads in the country, even given Kadaga’s long stay in influential positions. This is a fact anybody can’t dismiss.

Whoever loves Busoga and Basoga should be asking Hon Namuganza to talk and talk so as to then, sit and help Busoga but not necessarily shutting her down. Why not address the issues she is raising??

Namuganza is raising key issues and she must fairly be listened to and given a fair hearing.
