Equity Bank Uganda has announced adjusted operating hours for its branches and Head Office on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in line with the Government of Uganda’s National Cleaning Initiative.
In a customer notice, the bank informed its clients that its operations would commence later than usual to accommodate the nationwide exercise, which is scheduled to take place from 7:00am to 10:00am.
Under the revised schedule, Equity Bank’s Kampala branches and Head Office will open at 1:00pm and close at 3:00pm. However, Oasis Branch will operate from 1:00pm to 9:00pm, while Church House Branch will open at 1:00pm and close at 8:00pm.
For customers accessing services outside Kampala, the bank said its upcountry branches would operate from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
” We encourage you to use digital channels for convenience,” the bank said in the notice, urging customers to explore its digital banking services during the adjusted operating hours.
Customers requiring assistance can contact the bank’s 24-hour toll-free customer support line on 0800232700.
The announcement comes amid rumours suggesting that this month’s National Cleaning Day exercise had been suspended, claims that Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja has dismissed.
In a public clarification, Nabbanja urged Ugandans to disregard reports of a cancellation, insisting that the exercise would proceed nationwide on Saturday, October 31, from 7:00am to 10:00am.
“Please disregard misleading reports suggesting that this month’s National Cleaning Day has been suspended. It will be observed nationwide tomorrow, the last Saturday of this month, 31 October 2026, from 7:00 A.M to 10:00 A.M. Let’s proudly and willingly participate,” the Prime Minister said.
The exercise marks Uganda’s fourth National Cleaning Day and will be conducted across all districts, cities, municipalities, town councils, parishes and villages.
Lira City has been designated as the national focal point, with the main cleaning activities expected to centre around Lira City Central Market.
During the three-hour exercise, members of the public are expected to participate in cleaning their homes, roadsides, markets, drainage channels, schools, health facilities and other public spaces.
The government has also announced temporary restrictions on the general movement of motor vehicles, motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians nationwide between 7:00am and 10:00am, with exemptions for emergency services, medical personnel, security forces and other authorized categories.
Equity Bank’s revised operating schedule reflects the adjustments businesses and service providers are making to accommodate the government-led initiative, while encouraging customers to plan their banking activities accordingly.
Customers are advised to take note of the revised branch hours and utilize the bank’s digital channels where possible to minimize disruptions to their transactions.
