When she was hosted on Top Radio’s Negwozadde political program this Saturday morning, Kampala Minister Beti Kamya demonized Bobi Wine & his People Power Movement urging people to stay away from it. Kamya carried with her the picture of the high profile meeting Mr. Wine had yesterday in Washington with Congressman Brad Sherman (who represents the 30th congressional district of California). Sherman is also a member of the very influential Foreign Relations Committee of the American Congress some of whose members have vowed to block the USD500m US govt has annually been giving Uganda in military aid. Kamya now says this is proof that Bobi is a proxy of US imperialists who want to use him to impose homosexuality on Uganda.
“Mr. Sherman is very unrepentant about his support for homosexuality yet he is the one spearheading Hon Bobi Wine’s engagements in the US. The other day I checked on his Facebook page and its full of praises for the Indian court judgment which permitted the practice of homosexuality in India. He praised the decision as very progressive. This means he is part of the broader agenda to impose homosexuality on the world. This is why we must all be very careful with the agenda Hon Bobi Wine stands for. His statements are very simplistic so far. How do you just say I’m returning to fight for freedom? Just like that? I think he just wants to eat the American’s money and that’s his business but he shouldn’t confuse our people,” she said. Kamya said unlike Besigye who spoke with clarity and it wasn’t hard to understand what he stands for, Bobi Wine is vague and hasn’t articulated anything his critics can debate. “You say people power but how else do you demonstrate that apart from in the ballot box? I hope those Americans aren’t preparing him for war.” Kamya refused to respond to Wakiso councillor Sentamu Sewandagi who reminded her how Bobi was denied visa by the UK embassy years back because he had condemned homosexuality in one of his songs. Strangely Kamya was supported by Kawempe Mayor Emmanuel Serunjogi who claimed to be the people power coordinator for Kawempe. Serunjogi confused listeners even more when he claimed to be a Bobi supporter but thanked Kamya for being the founder of People Power. The history to their relationship is that sometime back Erias Lukwago & his councilors were unhappy when Kamya cancelled Lukwago’s trip and gave it to Serunjogi whom she says is a good reasonable Mayor in Kampala. But Kamya’s utterances angered Prof Gilbert Bukenya who took to one of the Top Radio chat groups and said she was bring very unfair to the man from Magere. Kamya’s PA Hassan Kasibante responded asking Bukenya to shut up. Kamya’s views too sharply differ from those of Tamale Mirundi who spoke on the same radio on Monday and downplayed sodomy allegations against Bobi. “That’s fake propaganda. Do you mean to say when he becomes President homosexuals will forcefully sodomize me? That’s for amateurs. Its not a problem to me. Why should I be facilitated with Shs1m to go and attack Bobi Wine? Is he the one who made me jobless and chased me from State House? I won’t be diverted from my war against the Omukoto who chased me from State House,” Mirundi said during an earlier appearance on the same radio. “Why do you pick Shs20bn from the President (mbu) to neutralize Bobi Wine whom you have deliberately exaggerated to scare the President and you contemptuously give me only Shs1m? I’m I a dog to be used so cheaply like that?”
