Lady Justice Naluzze Aisha Batala, the newly appointed Inspector General of Government (IGG), has outlined a tougher, prosecution-focused strategy in the fight against corruption, calling on staff to lead by example by upholding integrity, professionalism, and teamwork.
She delivered these directives in her inaugural address to staff of the Inspectorate of Government (IG) on Monday, 1st December 2025, indicating that as corruption evolves, the institution must also adapt by employing stronger, more strategic interventions to hold offenders accountable.
Naluzze emphasized that meaningful impact in the fight against corruption begins internally, with IG staff exemplifying the principles they are mandated to enforce, ensuring that the institution’s credibility is never compromised.
The new IGG thanked President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for entrusting her with the leadership of the Inspectorate and acknowledged her professional journey, crediting her former colleagues at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Judiciary for shaping her career.
She also recognized the contributions of her predecessor, Hon. Beti Namisango Kamya, for advancing the institution, and commended her deputies, Dr. Okiria and Anne Twino, for their reappointment and continued role in supporting the IG’s work.
Naluzze unveiled the Inspectorate’s Five-Year Strategic Plan (FY2025/26–2029/30), which she described as a transformative framework for enhancing transparency, accountability, and public trust, further calling on all staff to align their work with the plan, framing it as a coordinated and actionable roadmap for decisive anti-corruption efforts.
Acknowledging resource limitations, the IGG highlighted the need for innovation, efficiency, and prudent management of available funds, signaling plans to strengthen partnerships with development partners to mobilize additional resources and support the institution’s operations.
She also announced that structural adjustments would be introduced within the Inspectorate in the coming weeks to improve efficiency and effectiveness, urging staff to embrace and support these changes as part of the institution’s continuous improvement.
The IGG stressed that the fight against corruption requires collective effort and teamwork, asserting that the IG would achieve more when staff work cohesively toward its mandate.
