DP President General Norbert Mao has cautioned supporters of Bobi Wine in Buganda to be careful and realize that effective as it has been in mobilizing the youths, their Twebereremu slogan won’t be enough to get their man into power. Speaking at a DP reunion gathering on Sunday in Mukono, Mao said: “If you stand here and say Twebereremu, what are you going to say in Gulu? How will that Twebereremu apply in Gen Mugisha Muntu’s place in Ntungamo? These are painful things that you must know and reflect upon if you are serious and mean business about your candidate winning elections in 2021.” Once again repeating his declaration to stand for Presidency in 2021 as opposed to rallying behind anyone, Mao said: “As DP we are tired of being sub contractors. We shall be putting in our own bid rather than waiting for others to get the contract and sub contract us as a party. Those other slogans of yours have limitations and aren’t going to work because its DP to get the contract this time round. Gone are the days when DP had self-esteem problems and believed in starting a company to be sub contracted. We shall be putting in our bid directly.” The crowd that was mobilized by DP leaders in Mukono led by Mayor George Kagimu was very cheerful as Mao drove his point home calling on grassroot DP leaders to prepare to run for electoral positions rather comfortably living under what he called the “sub contractor mindset.” A section of leaders present, led by the incorruptible Sam Lubega Mukaku, (without directly antagonizing Mao) insisted on People Power and chanted it’s slogans each time they got the microphone. Mao’s resolve to run in 2021 was first unmasked by Butambala MP Muwanga Kivumbi who has since been a target of attacks by especially a group of DP members working under three time Presidential Candidate Dr. Abed Bwanika.
