The National Unity Platform (NUP) is facing criticism for its decision to favour Mrs. Nakabugo Faridah as the candidate for the Lubaga B electoral area. A petition signed by several party members has raised concerns about the party’s commitment to democratic principles and transparency.

The petitioners argue that Mrs. Nakabugo Faridah did not express interest in contesting for the Lubaga B seat and was not vetted for the position. This decision is seen as undermining the party’s internal democratic processes and favouring one candidate over others who went through the vetting process.

The petitioners demand that the NUP leadership reconsider the decision and ensure that the party’s internal elections are conducted in a fair and transparent manner. They also call for the party to adhere to democratic principles, including transparency, fairness, and accountability.

This controversy raises questions about the party’s commitment to democratic values and its ability to manage internal conflicts. The outcome of this situation may impact the party’s credibility and its chances in future elections.

The NUP’s decision to second Mrs. Nakabugo Faridah has sparked a heated debate within the party. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the party will address these concerns and restore trust among its members and supporters. (For comments on this story, get back to us on 0705579994 [WhatsApp line], 0779411734 & 041 4674611 or email us at mulengeranews@gmail.com).
