Officially he is the State Minister for Internal Affairs but Gen David Muhoozi (former CDF) weighs much more than that. He isn’t your ordinary General and when it comes to being valued and trusted by their mentor Gen YK Museveni, he and Gen James Mugira are in their own league.
The President values these two lawyer Generals for being loyal, intelligent, cautious, calculative and intellectually sophisticated cadres of his whose existence is the reason the future and longevity of the NRM revolution post-Museveni is well assured. His law school teachers all confirm that Muhoozi is an intellectual in his own category.
He is a powerful and well-schooled General yet simple and down to earth. You won’t find him bragging anywhere about being powerful or known to so and so. No. He is much more sophisticated than that.
Then more recently, Gen Museveni created more clout for the David Muhoozi household when he chose his spouse Counsel Stella Alibateese to be one of the Justices to work at the enlarged Court of Appeal.
She is a daughter to Eng Abraham Byandala who for years served as KCC chief engineer, Katikamu MP and subsequently Minister of Works & Transport.
Over the years, Justice Stella Alibateese (who was Gen Muhoozi’s law school contemporary) excelled as a corporate lawyer working at the Ministry of ICT and later on NIRA. She is one of the new judges on whom the big man from Rwakitura is counting to amplify his larger efforts to make the Judiciary more efficient.
